Two ethics trials of high profile Democratic legislators? Not a big impact? That's news for some contributors to these forums. But contrast how Democrats address their scandals with how Republicans do. Dem's conduct public trials and Repub's do what? Mostly look the other way.

Democrats have been hoping to use Republican attacks on Democratic ethics against them, to remind voters of recent and ongoing GOP scandals. The Rangel and Waters ethics trials, they say, prove that Democrats have made good on their pledge to clean up the House of Representatives, where, in the past, Republicans sought to bury their scandals.

Let's see, Rangle and Waters are both black and were elected in majority minority districts--per Section 5 of The Voting Rights Act.

I hadn't thought about it, but Boehner's probably right. What with the fear of being called a racist, this won't matter much.

Actually it's usually the Republicans going after Republicans that screw up, most republicans that do something really wrong end up "retiring" shortly thereafter.

Don't know one way or the other with Rangel, but I'm sure even the Democrats will be glad to see Waters go.
