This is a real shame, and a loss for my hometown. This guy has been a great Congressman for 12 terms who is beloved by left and right in my area. He was the head of the House Science and Technology Committee, and served as the interim chair of the House Intelligence Committee. The race to replace him this fall should be heated, with three prominent Dems already months into campaigning for his job. Fortunately for the Reps, the party managed to get its stuff together finally and are coalescing behind State Senator Ray Meier to run for his seat. All things equal, Meier should win this one, if by a smaller margin than Boehlert would have. Probably a 6 or 8 point victory.
