BLUE MOON ALERT

We have a very unusual celestial event taking place tonight.

We have a second full moon in the same month - the first was March 1.

Because it's the second, it is called a Blue Moon, not because the moon will be blue - it won't be - but because it's a rarity; hence the saying "Once in a blue moon....."

Enjoy watching this tonight - this will not happen again until October 31, 2020!

Edit: The universe wants to keep us on our toes?

The Sap Moon. Thanks for posting that. We had a blue moon in January of this year, as well.

Actually, I think it's happening in about an hour from now, but it will still look completely full tonight.

Lots of strange things happen in 31-day months. Two full moons, two new moons, or, best of all, 5 paydays. :)

Moon cycles are 28 days. Our word "month" is derived from moon. So, riddle me this--Why on earth do we not have 12, 28-day months, with a 13th that has 29?
