I was thinking about Donald Trump and Jeff Bezos, two quite different billionaires. One is a bully. He has a fleet of lawyers and is often suing, or threatening to sue, anyone he thinks he can crush. The other has never made the news, that I could remember, over lawsuits. So, I went to Google.

"Jeff Bezos believes that billionaire investor and PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel is out of line for using his fortune to back lawsuits designed to cripple Gawker Media.

"I don't think a billionaire should be able to fund a lawsuit to kill Gawker," the Amazon CEO said Tuesday during a wide-ranging interview with Recode's Walt Mossberg at the Code Conference in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. "The best defense against speech you don't like is a thick skin. If you can't tolerate critics, then don't do anything new or interesting."

Bezos' comments come less than a week after Thiel admitted he was the bucksbehind a defamation lawsuit that Terry Bollea -- better known as former pro wrestler Hulk Hogan -- brought against the online publication. Thiel reportedly paid roughly $10 million to back Hogan, who won more than $115 million from Gawker in a Florida jury trial in March.

Widespread speculation holds that the lawsuit was the result of longstanding animosity between Thiel and Nick Denton, Gawker Media's CEO. In 2007, Gawker attempted to out Thiel, who is gay, before he was open about his sexuality. Two years later, Thiel told PEHub that Gawker's now-defunct Valleywag was "the Silicon Valley equivalent of Al Qaeda."

"Seek revenge and you dig two graves. One for yourself," Bezos said, bringing up a familiar proverb. "How do you want to spend your energy?"

I thought that was interesting. ""The best defense against speech you don't like is a thick skin. If you can't tolerate critics, then don't do anything new or interesting." That's a mature way to look at it. Of course, Donald Trump prefers to sue little people.

he has been sued by atleast 1900 people, and he himself sued another 1300 different people.

my favorite is when he sued Bill Maher

In 2013, after Trump said he would donate $5 million to charity if President Obama would release all of his personal documents to the public, Bill Maher appeared on The Tonight Show and joked that he would give Trump $5 million if he could prove that his father was not an orangutan. Trump sent Maher a copy of his birth certificate. When Maher didn’t pay up, Trump sued him for the $5 million.

LOL...entertaining link:

Over the past few decades, the self-proclaimed “very rich” businessman has sued people, businesses and entire cities and countries. He’s sued a newspaper, his ex-wife, a quaint business card store in Georgia and a Native American tribe. He’s cried breach of contract, government favoritism, fraud, and libel.

Trump sues when he is made to feel small, insufficiently wealthy, threatened or mocked. He sues for sport, he sues to regain a sense of control, and he sues to make a point. He sues as a means of saying “you’re fired” to those he does not employ.

So, Google never sues anyone then? It's easy to show that this is not true.

Big players like Bezos, Trump and Thiel are always in court dealing with lawsuits and trying to protect their rights. It's highly tendentious to view a legal action by anyone as being without merit when the courts ruled in their favor, as was Thiel's case.

you people need to get over it,TRUMP is now the head of the REPUBLICAN PARTY,a vote for anyone but TRUMP is a vote to send AMERICA into the socialist trash heap.
you people must love 1.2% growth and real unemployment is out the roof,so many people have given up looking for a job
If you include people who have given up looking for work, the unemployment rate is 6%. If you include people stuck in a part-time job for 20 or 25 hours a week, the real unemployment rate is a dreadful 9.8%.Apr 1, 2016

The Big Lie: 5.6% Unemployment

I love people who think typing in caps erased the idiocy. A vote for Trump or Clinton either one is a vote to finish the job of destroying America that Obama has been pursuing. And, you're looking to a man who hires illegal aliens to solve the problem of unemployment? And, you're looking to a man who screws his employees on bankruptcies to help working people?

"Our project found about 3,500 legal actions involving Trump, including 1,900 where he or his companies were a plaintiff and about 1,300 in which he was the defendant. Due to his branding value, Trump is determined to defend his name and reputation."
Exclusive: Trump's 3,500 lawsuits unprecedented for a presidential nominee

Trump's only skill is fleecing suckers.
