Bill O'Reilly does it again (1 Viewer)

What a moron O'Reilly is. So two times in interviews with Wesley Clark he has gotten the entire Malmedy tragedy backwards. OK, even hipsterdufus makes mistakes (back in the 80's mostly;) ) Rather than apologise, O'Reilly changes the transcripts from Malmedy to Normandy. Yeah right. What a loser.

Olbermann exposes O'Reilly on Malmedy

While O'Reilly was debating Wesley Clark on his FOX show, Bill once again was short on the facts. It proves my theory once again that some talking heads will say just about anything to make themselves sound right.

Video-WMP Video-QT

(Full rough transcript)

Olbermann: The bodies at Malmedy were not found until a month later. There were 84 of them, all, American soldiers. More than half showed gunshot wounds to their heads. Six had received fatal **blows** to the head. Nine were found with their arms still raised **above** their heads.

The fact that O'Reilly got these horrible facts completely backwards -- twice -- offended even his own usually compliant viewers. From his program **Wednesday** night...Wrong answer.

When you're **that** wrong -- when you're defending Nazi War Criminals and pinning their crimes on Americans, and you get **caught** doing so -- **twice** -- you're supposed to say 'I'm sorry, I was wrong'... and then you should shut up for a long time. Instead, Fox **washed** its transcript of O'Reilly's remarks Tuesday -- its website claims O'Reilly said "In **Normandy**..." when in fact he said "In **Malmedy**..."

The rewriting of past reporting -- worthy of Orwell -- has now carried over into such on-line transcription services as Burrell's and Factiva. Whatever did or did not happen **later**, in supposed or actual retribution... the victims at Malmedy, were **Americans**, gunned down while surrendering -- by **Nazis** in 1944 -- and again, Tuesday Night and Wednesday Night -- by a false patriot who would rather be loud than right.

"In Malmedy, as you know" Bill O'Reilly **said** Tuesday night, in some indecipherable attempt to defend the events of Haditha, "U.S. forces captured S.S. forces who had their hands in the air and were unarmed and they shot them dead, you know that. That's on the record. And documented."

The victims at Malmedy in December, 1944... were Americans. **Americans** with their hands in the air. **Americans** who were unarmed. That's on the record. And documented.

And their memory deserves better than Bill O'Reilly.

We **all** do.

LOL Hipster, I watched Olbermann last night and saw this. Talk about dishonest. O'Reilly is an immoral a$$wipe. So he made a mistake--big deal. But to make it seem as though he didn't is just plain dishonest. Bill O'Reilly and Fox News should be ashamed of themselves, although I doubt they are. None of them have consciences.

Anyone that took Psych 101 could easily figure out that the O'Reilly is a pathological liar. I love it when he fills in intricate falsified details about imaginary facts.

His BS about the negative effect of O'Reilly's boycott of France and the non-existent French commision he totally fabricated to "prove" his imaginary point is another great example of this pathology. Of course the exact opposite of what O'Reilly reported was true.

Great video...just watched it...thanks for posting this.

Other people on both sides of the fence grace his presence in this catagory. I can't name any libs off hand but I recall when reading a Rush L. book (was a Rush L. fan at the time) that his statistics weren't consistent within his own book.

Please don't try to come at me as a Bill OReally apologist. If you weren't aware that little black flag as my avatar means I'm an anarchist.

Tip of the day : That means I probably don't like or support Bill Oreally.

However having watched a decent amount of him I think he is a misguided/disturbed man who truly thinks he is 'just helping'.

I guess in the end I just accept that Bill Oreally is just part of the tv "entertainment news".

Not trying to take away or discredit this thread, just feel like shooting my mouth off.

lol

massive, i believe you are right old bill reily is both disturbed AND misguided, and reily (really)does think he is doing the right thing. right being the opperative word here. and oh how i wish he would take the cotton out of his ears and stick it in his mouth.

Absolutely. If you check out the link, there's video from Mr. Falafel's show. Anyone can boycott France - that's idiotic, but fine. The pathological point is that O'Reilly created out of thin air imaginary organization - the "Paris Business Review" to back up his falsified data on the effect his boycott had.

O'Reilly boycotts truth to spin French boycott; falsely claimed it "hurt France"
On his nationally syndicated radio show, Fox News host Bill O'Reilly touted a boycott of French products, which he began promoting in March 2003 in response to that country's opposition to the Iraq war. Discussing the possibility of calling for a boycott against Aruba if evidence emerged that "the Aruba government is whitewashing" the case of missing American teenager Natalie Holloway, O'Reilly said: "We hurt France, but it took, you know, millions of Americans to say, 'I'm not gonna buy French stuff.' " But the evidence shows that O'Reilly's boycott has not measurably hurt French exports to the United States, which have increased each year since 2002.

Media Matters has repeatedly debunked O'Reilly's false claims of success regarding a French boycott. On April 27, 2004, he asserted that the boycott had cost France "billions of dollars," citing the "Paris Business Review" as a source, but Media Matters documented that Census figures actually showed an increase in U.S. imports from France; additionally, there is no evidence of a publication named the "Paris Business Review."

Later, in a July 6, 2004, letter to the New York Daily News, O'Reilly claimed success because "in the months following the boycott call, France did $138 million less business with the U.S.A. than it did the previous year."

/snip

Finally, on the July 14, 2004, edition of Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor, O'Reilly stated: "French exports to the USA have fallen by more than a billion dollars from 2001 to 2003." In fact, French exports in 2003 increased by $979 million over exports in 2002. This is a more relevant period for measuring the boycott's purported effectiveness, since O'Reilly didn't begin promoting a boycott until March 2003.

That trend has continued: French exports in 2004 increased by nearly $2.39 billion over 2003. In addition, French exports to the U.S. in the first five months of 2005 (through May 2005) increased by more than $1.5 billion over the same period the year before.

O'Reilly has continued to promote and sell "Boycott France" bumper stickers on his website.

That was just my ye ole opinion on the subject of Bill O. If you want my expert opinion, you need to ask me a question on the subject of electrical engineering or the Los Angeles Lakers, which are the only two things that I consider myself an expert on.
