Democrats and Republicans are unlikely to trade wall funding for Dreamer relief in their dash to avert another shutdown.

Congressional negotiators haven’t even held their first meeting yet to avert a new shutdown, but the prospect of a big deal on border security and immigration is essentially dead.

When President Donald Trump caved in the 35-day shutdown fight last week, he encouraged Congress to come up with a compromise — perhaps a trade of wall funding for temporary relief for Dreamers as he had previously proposed.
=====================================
The shutdown was a political poison pill for Trump. I will bet there will not be another. The first one hurt his chances of reelection. The next will be political suicide.

If trump were to provide permanent protection for dreamers that “might” get Dems on board but not with a 3 year temp reprieve.

I still think there will be a compromise where all can claim they won and move on. If the president won't sign a bill put forth and shuts down the government again, the GOP might as well fold up the tent and go home. Come back in 2024.

Those politicians all know that NOTHING will work unless the money Trump wants is there. If they fail to compromise then Trump will take matters into his own hands. But there won't be another shutdown.

So it goes...

No, the so called bipartisan compromise on the Wall has been shutdown once more by the Democrat poison pill insertion of several items. One of which according to Majority Leader Mitch McConnell accuses Democrats of adding “poison pill” provisions into the deal. One of those provisions allows small town mayors to veto any part of a wall built in their specific jurisdictions. I guess we'll have to wait till the morning and afternoon to see the results of this perfidious and so called compromise by the Democrats.
