Good summation of Sleepy Joe's truly epic historic defeat of Donald Trump. Why is the media supressing any conversation of how it was possible? Why is why a question you can't ask anymore?

You should ask yourself why Team Trump is lying to the courts instead of showing them these stunning revelations.

When you have record turnout in the middle of a pandemic, trends tend to be broken. Dems have been telling Trumpists for years that he is an unprecedentedly divisive and hated candidate, and the polls showed Biden even more ahead than he actually turned out to be (even the conservative polls were fairly close to the ultimate result). So I'm not sure why Biden winning should be shocking to anyone or a cause for suspicion.

Maybe if conservatives branched out from their echo chambers they'd be less unmoored by reality when it happens.

Did you read the summary? Help me understand how the total hate and distane for our president you desctibe was concentrated in Philadelphia, Atlanta, Milwaukee and Detroit?

Trump lost, and in a few short weeks will again revert to being a powerless nobody. Deal with it.

Biden outperformed Clinton in basically every suburban and rural county in the country, and also got more votes than Clinton in virtually every county (including urban counties where he may nonetheless have gotten a very slightly smaller percentage of votes). The premise of the article is false. The reasons Biden are won are obvious to anyone who actually cares about understanding the situation.

We told Republicans over and over and over again that the election would be a referendum on Trump. Why is that so hard to grasp?

Here are just a few examples of urban counties I examined at random, which disprove the premise that Biden underperformed in all urban counties except in four swing states:

Cleveland OH:
Clinton 2016: 66.1%, 398,271
Biden 2020: 66.4%, 416,176 (with only 85% in)

Boston MA:
Clinton 2016: 81.8%, 221,093
Biden 2020: 82.6%, 242,717 (95% in)

Chicago IL:
Clinton 2016: 74.8%, 1,611,946
Biden 2020: 74.4%, 1,725,973

Memphis TN
Clinton 2016: 62.2%, 208,992
Biden 2020: 64.2%, 245,208

Denver CO
Clinton 2016: 73.7%, 244,551
Biden 2020: 79.6%, 313,292

Compare those to Philly:
Clinton 2016: 82.5%, 584,025
Biden 2020: 81.4%, 603,790.

I don't know about you, but that looks about exactly on trend for me. I can't help it if conservative posters and random conservative writers want to believe otherwise.

If the election was a referendum on Trump why have 4 cities decided the election? Why didn't Florida and Ohio flip?

Why didn't Joe win Florida or Ohio or the belleweather counties? Why did Joe get the smallest percentage of the minority vote in 60 years of any Democrat nominee?

You do not want my understanding. You demand my submission and compliance. It is because I care that I won't give up.

Four cities decided the election? What is that even supposed to mean? Hundreds of areas decided the election. Or are you genuinely confused why swing states exist?

There’s so much confusion and ignorance contained within the premises of your arguments in this thread that I genuinely don’t know where anyone is supposed to start.

Yes-- it was about the Trump the person.
The Democrats are mistaken if they think there was a large scale endorsement of the progressives.
Right now, both parties are in the position that they can both shoot themselves in the foot-- the Democrats if they get get carried away with the Biden victory, and the GOP in Georgia with all that nonsense about election boycotts.

What is so surprising. Since 2018 it has been obvious that Trump has been losing the suburbs and he got CREAMED in the suburbs. Ergo, his "all DEMs are evil and Socialists" only went so far" and his "Law and Order I will save your suburbs" argument went nowhere at all.

Though I am displeased that Donnie got over 73 million Citizens to vote for him I am not surprised by it. I am also not surprised that Biden got over 80 million Citizens to vote for him. The Independents swung way over to Biden and against Donnie and everybody turned out not so much to vote for Biden as to get the Madman out of the Oval.

Nothing surprising at all. The Federalists are grasping at straws as is the rest of Trump World.

Take a look at the numbers in post #8, which disprove the author's key premise about Biden underperforming in every urban county other than in four swing states.

Biden outperformed Clinton in both percentage and votes in both Ohio and Florida. Since 2016 was decided by mere tens of thousands of votes, I don't know why it should surprise anyone that a candidate (Biden) who outperformed the prior candidate (Clinton) in basically every county in the country won.

Since the author doesn't name the bellweather counties, and both articles it cites have paywalls, I can't do any analysis of those, but I'm willing to bet that Biden outperformed Clinton in those counties as well. The fact that 18 "bellweather" counties that betted correctly since 1980 didn't get it right this time is not surprising or suspicious to me in the least. (I wonder how many counties that were "bellweather" up until 2016 but got it wrong that year were right again this year?) We had many unprecedented factors in this election -- pandemic, historically unpopular president, availability of mail-in voting, etc. that can easily explain why counties that were representative of the country in 1980 are not as representative today.

If you truly "care" about understanding this, it might behoove you to do some of your own analysis rather than just latching onto an article that supports what you clearly desire to believe.

this is true.

which is why republicans gain a ton of house seats and have flipped at least 4 seats in CA.

it is also why they have what looks like still control of the senate.

Nobody cares if you accept truth/reality. The majority of Americans that voted have spoken and we’re moving moving forward.

I totally understand swing states as did Trump. That is why a million people stood in line for hours to see Trump in person in those swing states the last few weeks as he did 3 or 4 apperances a day. Joe essentially campaigned from his basement occasionally venturing out for the 30 minute drive to Philadelphia to talk or rather mumble for a few minutes to an empty parking lot. He did make a last minute flights, essentially going through the motions that last day or 2. He campaigned as if he KNEW he was going to win. Anyway, why didn't Joe win the belleweather states of Florida and Ohio and the 59 (8 of59 for Joe) counties that vote for the winning candidate in every election in modern memory? If it was a referendum on Trump and not Trump won how did Trump get millions more votes than in the last election? How did he win big in Florida and Ohio? Is it because of the voting systems there were secure? Why did Trump have huge coattails for people he endorsed if Trump was so reviled?

it was possible because rump is the worst president in history.

/end thread.

It sounds like you have a lot of research to do into the Biden Voter. I suggest you go to the cities, buy them a cup of coffee and have long conversations with them in order to understand what makes them tick.

In fact, for the next four years, I want to see every single news outlet do nothing but conduct interviews with liberals to find out why they still support Biden.

It’s remarkable. They put him into office specifically to be an asshole, and they can’t comprehend why left-of-center voters would turn out in droves to get rid of him.

Something else that Biden did that was totally amazing:

Fun Fraud Fact of the Day: "All 900 military ballots in Fulton County [Georgia] were 100% for Joe Biden."

Trump didn't have huge coattails. People from all sides of the political spectrum voted Biden over Trump. The GOP messaging regarding Democrats and Socialism was the most effective part of the GOP campaign this election cycle. Result, voters trying to check the possibility of the Left of the DEM Party pulling Biden their way.

This stuff is rarely as complicated as people want to make it out to be.

How can you expect to be taken seriously when you post such absurd lies? Nowhere near “a million people”, cumulatively, attended Trump rallies over the last few weeks of the campaign.

And arguing that there must be a correlation between campaign rally and voter turnout in our current environment is just plain stupid.

Trump invited, encouraged even, his supporters to disregard valid medical experts advice against large gatherings, social distancing, and wearing of face masks in public, whereas the Democratic Party pleaded for people not to gather in large crowds, and to vote by mail in every state that allowed it.

another day, another CT. meanwhile, Tweety lost.
