Isn't that what I have been saying for more than a year or two?

While other car companies sees the great potential in renewable energy. Quote from your source.

"This comes on the coattails of Audi’s CEO stating the company won’t develop new internal combustion engines and BMW saying the exact opposite, as well as Mini and GM both laying out a timeline for ditching ICE powertrains entirely. These moves are controversial with passions running strong on both sides, but much of these movements come with different governments threatening ICE bans."

While you also have these examples.

There you already seen a dramatic drop in cost of batteries so electric cars will soon start to outcompete fossil fuel cars on price.

It does not change the very real points that Toyota is raising!

There are of course challenges but you are seeing massive innovations to solve those challenges. There Toyota is one of the companies making those innovations.

Biden have invited 40 world leaders to a climate summit in April.

"The US has invited the leaders of the Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate, which includes the 17 countries responsible for about 80% of global emissions and GDP, as well as heads of countries that are especially vulnerable to climate impacts or are demonstrating strong climate leadership.

The US president has placed global heating at the heart of his agenda and has already made waves domestically by pledging to make the energy sector emissions-neutral by 2035, followed by the economy as a whole by 2050.

He has also placed a hold on new oil and gas drilling on federal lands and offshore and is expected to soon seek a $2tn infrastructure package from Congress that would serve as the engine of future economic growth."

At least assembled in the United States.

He said vehicles, not cars or automobiles. Well anyway cars yeah, I expect most of 'em
just drive around town, and that will work just fine. Does he mean military? I really do
hope he's not THAT stupid. Trucks? Get real!
Hopefully any FBI chases will be short ones....

You still are not even attempting to understand the points Toyota is raising.
These are major limitations to the expansion of electric cars!

A journalists fantasy based on facts, but not understanding the problems behind their claim. You have been told this. You could have easily verified this, but no..... You choose to repeat propaganda, which is a lie.

Yes, the batteries they developed can charge in 10 minutes. But no. The capacity of the batteries in a car could not be charged that fast. There are limits of cable size inside the car that limits the current transfer. They would be excessivley big and heavy to carry enough power to charge a car battery module in 10 minutes. But, you deny the facts in preference of repeating lies.

The first time I pointed this out, I asked you to show us where Toyota made the 10 minute claim.

Hint... They never made such a stupid claim! Only the ignorant journalist did.

Concept cars. Over the decades, I have seen hundreds of concept cars that never seen it to production. Besides, look at the expected cost.

So? Ever work for a corporation? I have. News like this doesn't mean anything until it bears fruit. News like this is generally times to affect stock prices.

Batteries will become an extensive part of our energy storage. However, I predict that we will transition to synthetic fuels that are carbon neutral because we will make them from CO2. Batteries will be smaller and operate in parallel with fuel cells that will operate with the clean synthetic hydrocarbons.

We need that type of energy density. 100 pounds of fuel and 10 pounds of battery instead 1,000 pounds of battery. We will not need as much rare elements, which will get exceptionally expensive at the quantities needed for an all battery fleet. And don't forget the environmental damage the nations do t the mining sites, using cheap labor and environmentally unfriendly methods.

You can already charge a car with 250 kW so solid battery technology that can keep that charge for a longer time during the charge can be a massive improvement.

"During the charging session, the vehicle reached 250 kW at the 5% SOC point and held it until the SOC reached 24%. That's similar to how Porsche manages the Taycan's charging curve, as it too begins to ramp down the power once the car is at 25% SOC....

While charging on the V3 Supercharger, I reached 50% SOC in only thirteen minutes, and the car was still accepting 120 kW at that point. It took 28 minutes to reach 80% and the charge rate has slowed down to 54 kW at that point. Had I continued to let the car charge to 100% it would have taken longer for the last 20% than it took to get to 80%. I've previously recorded my charging time on a Supercharger from 80% to 100% and it took 33 minutes."

The NIO car was an actual production car that will be launched next year with 1 000 km range. While another example of car company with long range cars is Tesla with already 402 mi, 647 km range and soon 700 km range.

Also that was an actual order from Volkswagen. So are you claiming that companies make companies makes multibillion orders to affect stock prices with no intent to fullfill those orders?

There are also a lot of work to make batteries more sustainable.

The Biden administration are setting more important goals for a more sustainable society. With investments in off shore wind power and cities build for people instead of cars.

"The Biden administration is moving to sharply increase offshore wind energy along the US east coast, saying on Monday it is taking steps toward approving a huge windfarm off New Jersey as part of an effort to generate electricity for more than 10m homes by 2030.

Meeting the target could mean jobs for more than 44,000 workers and for 33,000 others in related employment, the White House said. The effort also would help avoid 78m metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions a year, a key step in the fight to slow the climate crisis.

Joe Biden “believes we have an enormous opportunity in front of us to not only address the threats of climate change, but use it as a chance to create millions of good-paying, union jobs that will fuel America’s economic recovery”, said the White House climate adviser Gina McCarthy."

“Nowhere is the scale of that opportunity clearer than for offshore wind.”

"“We’re better off if our decisions revolve not around the car but around the human being,” he said, remotely, in a keynote to the South by Southwest (SXSW) conference held in Austin, Texas.

“One thing that I don’t think a lot of Americans are aware of is how far behind we are on bicycle and pedestrian safety,” said Buttigieg who was appointed as President Biden’s transport secretary early last month.

“Other developed countries are safer to walk or bike on than American streets,” he added, intimating he would change that.

Buttigieg made many people-friendly changes when he was the mayor of South Bend, Indiana."

You can add this to your list:

New York Times:
The measure, called the American Jobs Plan, is the first step in a two-part
agenda to overhaul American capitalism, fight climate change and try to
improve the productivity of the economy. . . . . .
Joe Biden, March 31, 2021

So far Democrat policies for improving the economy seem to be negative.

Renewable energy can create lot of jobs and opportunities.

There even red states acknowledge the great benefits with renewable energy.

While the Trump administration gave false hope to fossil fuel workers and wasted money on failing industries.

V2X technology like for example Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) and Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) can help to stabilize the grid and be profitable both for families, business and the government.

"“V2X will really revolutionise the future of power grids all over the world,” says Polestar’s Head of Research and Development, Hans Pehrson. “I can imagine a world where thousands of electric vehicles, all plugged in to the grid, act as an important part of a fully renewable energy system. For example a V2H solution could maximise the storage of local green energy and provide back-up capacity for peak periods. This is a step towards a world without the need for coal or nuclear power plants.”

Part of the project will see the construction of two V2X demonstration charging stations in Gothenburg – one at the Polestar global headquarters and one on the Chalmers University campus.

V2X technology allows electric vehicles to act as power sources when they are plugged in to the grid. Having ideally charged an EV with green energy – wind or solar, for example – the vehicle can then supply its stored energy back to the grid, much like advanced off-grid power solutions that currently utilise battery packs with relatively small capacities to store energy for later use."

There V2X technology can also be part of virtual power plants.

The Biden administration have set an important goal of 100 percent carbon-free electricity by 2035.

"The backbone of President Biden's plan to use infrastructure spending to advance climate policy is a clean electricity standard for the power sector that has the potential to be the most aggressive ever enacted by the federal government.

Tucked into his $2.3 trillion infrastructure proposal is the aim of "achieving 100 percent carbon-free electricity by 2035," according to a fact sheet released yesterday by the White House.

"If we act now, in 50 years people are going to look back and say: 'This was the moment that America won the future,'" Biden said during a rollout of the proposal in Pittsburgh."

US and China agrees on the need for stronger commitment on climate change and the need for cooperation.

"The talks also mark a resumption of climate dialogue between the world's two biggest greenhouse gas emitters. Bilateral discussions ground to a halt during the administration of Donald Trump, who withdrew from the 2015 Paris agreement after claiming it unfairly punished U.S. businesses.

The United States is expected soon to deliver a new pledge to reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions in a bid to win back trust from foreign allies. Biden brought the United States back into the Paris climate accord.

Li Shuo, senior climate adviser for the environmental group Greenpeace, said China could soon respond to a new U.S. pledge with one of its own, building on the "momentum" of the Shanghai talks."

There are now hope for real actions on climate change all across the world. While at the same time those actions could and should have come decades ago.

"But hope rises again. The economic winds are lifting Biden’s sails: the cost of wind and solar power has plummeted by 90% or so over the past decade, and in many parts of the world it’s the cheapest way to generate electricity.

Globally, the signs of change are equally inspiring. Eight of the 10 largest economies have pledged to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. China, by far the world’s largest carbon polluter in terms of raw tonnage (on a per capita basis, the US and several other countries pollute far more), has promised to become carbon neutral by 2060. Some 400 companies, including Microsoft, Unilever, Facebook, Ford, Nestlé and Pepsi, have committed to reduce carbon pollution consistent with the United Nations’ 1.5C target, which scientists have determined is the threshold of dangerous climate change.

In her confirmation hearing, the treasury secretary, Janet Yellen, called climate change “an existential threat” and promised to create a team to examine the risks and integrate them into financial policymaking."

And China is laughing at all the ignorant people that believe they care.

And China is laughing at all the ignorant people that believe they care.

Don't be so quick. China recently, under the "Blue Sky Initiative" decided to stop producing some key chemicals that many industries use. China was the only country that made this particular set of chemicals and they shut down production due to concerns for environment and safety.

China, while not a great player on the international scene, is doing some things.

Americans want cheap goods. We will gladly accept it from whomever is willing to sacrifice their population and environment to get us the cheap goods. Yes that may make us "ignorant" but, in the end, WE are complicit in the problem.

If you are starving and I say I'll pay you $$$ to lick the road in front of my house; does it make YOU the bad person for licking the road? Or does it make ME the bad person for exploiting your need?

And China is laughing at all the ignorant people that believe they care.

It can of course be good to remember that China is a brutal and cynical dictatorship. While at the same time they also acknowledge the threat from climate change.

While also the great economical potentials in a transition away from fossil fuels.

UK have set an ambition goal of reducing carbon emissions.

With for example investment in off shore wind power.

My hat's off the the UK if they can do it, but I'll lay odds it will be a broken promise.

100% electricity, 78% total? Do you realize how many gasoline and diesel powered vehicles they will have to force off the road to do that? How much they will have to upgrade their power grid?

The Scottish part of UK already generate the equivalent of 97% of its electricity demand from renewables in 2020.

Hydrogen could replace natural gas for heating.

UK will also ban new sales of fossil fuel cars by 2030.

There Norway shows that the transition can go a lot faster.
