It's fairly easy to criticize people in retrospect.
What would Biden, if President (God forbid) have done differently?
The key might be in this clip of Joe talking to a crowd of supporters at the end of February, saying "It's not a time to panic."

Doesn't sound like the type of behavior characteristic of someone who would have immediately shut down the country. As Joe likes to fantasize that he would have done.
1. It is a six second clip .... whatever we just saw is out of context
2. It was never a time to "PANIC" about corona virus, so his words (as ill-informed as he was here -- see below) were spot on.
3. At the time, Biden was not POTUS. He did not have NSA nor CDC briefings. He was not in the know
4. At the time, Biden was not POTUS. This was not his responsibility, he was merely a candidate for the nomination. His words meant nothing. Leading the country through the pandemic was not his job.
5. Remember, Trump actually was President, privy to sufficient information to understand the problem AND responsible to the American people for acting appropriately to the threat at hand. He failed to do his job.
Do you actually have a point or are you simply a Trump supporter pathetically flailing trying to detract from or otherwise diminish Trump's epic failure of leadership here?
Trump downplayed a serious virus for political purposes.

Unlike Trump, Biden has articulated what he would do about the pandemic. Joe Biden’s Plan to Beat COVID-19 – Joe Biden for President: Official Campaign Website

Whoa there.
Trump talked down the intensity of the situation so the country wouldn't panic.
I remember being scared to death, hearing Pelosi telling us it was in God's hands, and then seeing Trump on television letting the public know that we weren't all going to die.
But this claim that Biden would have immediately shut down the country runs counter to everything we know about the Democratic response to this, and now, what we see on video.
Nope, he downplayed a virus for political purposes.
And it's on tape.

I want everybody to read posts like the above and think very, very hard about being baited by "It's just an anonymous source!" arguments in the future.
There is never a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow in arguing that the claim of an anonymous source is true.
The next time a trump supporter mocks your article for having an anonymous source, and if you're using a high quality news outlet like NYTimes or WaPo, ignore him.
???
This is not an anonymous source lol.
Biden was caught on tape.
Which makes the accusation true.
Caught on tape saying "don't panic"..... So what? That is suppose to mean something?

And it wasn't time to panic, panic is never a good thing, to warn people by saying it is not a time to panic is smart advice, only someone who supports Dishonest Donald would make the advice not to panic into a bad thing. Go figure.
Biden’s whole claim is that, if President, he would have forced a nationwide shutdown immediately, and saved lives.
From what I see on this video, this claim is BS.
The tape indicates he downplayed the virus. In order to prevent the country from descending into the frantic hell liberals would have caused, with statements like “It’s in God’s hands.”
From this footage, looks to me like Joe would have downplayed it as well.
You have no idea what "liberals" would have done if President Trump would have taken a different approach in telling the American people about the virus. If you did not know the pandemic and dealing with CV19 is not right or left issue. it is an American issue and a World issue.
It is not surprising the President Trump believes the downplaying was needed. He was banking that the majority of Americans are stupid.
Seems at least for his supporters he got it right.
Indeed. You think of any crisis response training, one of the first things they'll tell you is not to panic.

End of story.
LOL. You take Trump out of context on a daily basis.
He was doing the very same thing Biden just did in that clip.
