When Nancy announced that she favored a ban on Russian oil, that no doubt was a big factor in convincing him.

At the State of the Union speech, she was constantly giving us her phony smile, so the President wants to show her how much he appreciates her support.

By November, the gas prices should be back to "normal," so probably voters will have forgotten the expected higher prices that may result from such a ban.

The GOP is going to do well, the minority party always does in the mid-terms. That doesn't mean Trump will win in 2024, it's the same error the right keeps making by equating low approval ratings for Biden with more votes for Trump, it just doesn't work that way. Both parties need new blood and new candidates.

The Russians in general and Putin in particular seem to have noted the feckless cowardice of Biden in the abandonment of American allies in Afghanistan.

EVERYBODY IN THE WORLD WHO WAS WATCHING THIS knows that Putin was starting to back away from the Ukraine border until Biden led the clown show showing his weakness in Afghanistan.

Through August, September, October, November, December, January and February, BIDEN DID NOTHING about the Russian build up on the Ukraine border! WHY NOT??!!?!

After two weeks of War Criminal attacks on Ukrainian civilians by the Russian invaders, Biden FINALLY took action to head off a Congressional vote to block the impart of Russian oil so he could steal the credit.

Biden does only what he is told to do by those who tell him what to do and only for political advantage as he is told he will get it. He's a moron.

A REAL LEADER would have stopped Russia BEFORE any invasion took place using stern, clear unmistakable messaging.

He only got Europe lined up and united behind him. That he could have moved faster to ban Russian oil (despite the fact that it will almost certainly prove very damaging to Democrats' electoral prospects) hardly amounts to a lack of "backbone".

That's especially true if the context is Biden's electoral chances against the guy on record calling Putin a genius for his opening invasion moves and who publicly announces he trusts Putin over our own intelligence agencies.


How Biden might do against a candidate who makes the theoretically best decisions possible leading to ideal outcomes is irrelevant.

The Post reports, "At the White House, President Biden said he was banning all imports of oil and natural gas from Russia, effective immediately. The United Kingdom also announced a plan to phase out all Russian oil products by the end of the year."

The White House announcement came amid a rising bipartisan clamor to stop Russian imports. For example, U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) introduced the Ban Russian Energy Imports Act which would prohibit the importation of Russian crude oil, petroleum, petroleum products.

Consequently, Biden made this meaningless gesture to get the politicians off his back.

The amount of energy products we import from Russia is miniscule as compared to total Russian exports of energy. The impact will be far greater on the U.S. than it is on Russia, raising the likely prospect of this affecting Americans far more that it will affect Russians. In addition, the U.S. is going it alone, departing from our NATO partners; something Biden did not want to do.

This is what happens when politicians interfere with the Commander-in-Chief in the conduct of war.
