President Biden on Wednesday said the "MAGA crowd is really the most extreme political organization that's existed in American history," while speculating on how conservative state legislatures could respond to a potential Supreme Court ruling that would drastically curtail abortion access.

Why it matters: Biden, answering questions from reporters on a recent Politico leak of draft opinion indicating the Supreme Court has voted to overturn Roe v. Wade, suggested the draft goes against Supreme Court precedent that established a right to privacy.

What he said: "This is about a lot more than abortion," Biden said before asking what "the next things that are going to be attacked" might be.

  • "What happens if you have states change the law saying that children who are LGBTQ can't be in classrooms with other children. Is that legit under the way the decision is written?"

So pass a law. Suddenly, dems are afraid of democracy. Go figure.

Trumpers are pretty screwed up, but no, they aren't the most radical in history

Which laws are the R's interested in participating in? They are not interested in legislating.

Eh.....

Not really. Not even close.

Yes, we're against segregation. Explain to us why we should change our minds.

There was another person back in the thirties promising the people of a certain country wonderful things in the name of the people themselves. By the time he was finished, so were his people and millions of others.

The road the gop is heading down is not democracy. Sadly I fear we will have to learn by experience.

Extremism is in the eye of the beholder and subjective to one’s political views. This swing voter views both major parties as having become extremists and worst yet, ideologues. You have progressives on one side trying to enforce their beliefs on the rest of us via governmental powers and the Trumpers on the other side trying to do the same thing. There’s no middle ground anymore in our politics, both parties have expelled their moderates, are unwilling to compromise or play the old political game of give and take.

So what. Then elect Democrats. And if Democrats can't get elected, maybe they should get better ideas, or someone should form a third party that has them.

This far-right political power is not "MAGA", which is the trump label stolen from Reagan. With or without trump it would be the same. It's made of the powerful donors and the corrupt Republican politicians and propaganda machine to manipulate voters.

trump is called 'the head of the Republican Party', but he's not even close. He's this side figure who is the nominal leader - the one getting the votes and leading for president - but he's not the one determining the main agenda. He just 'follows orders' and signs the bills he's handed and nominates the judges handed to him by the Federalist Society and says how he's the greatest president in history.

Reagan was a force in politics. He changed the political culture for the worse. trump is not. He's a flash in the pan creating a sea of red hat wearers who are irrelevant except to be milked for their vote, with all the politicians wearing the hats to 'ride the trump train' and get votes, but trump isn't changing the Republican agenda nearly at all. He's just a 'front'.

And people need to understand that, to understand the issue is the party and not trump. trump is as bad as people say, but they need to understand the party is the problem.

Biden is wrong to tie the right-wing judicial corruption and agenda to trump, even though trump nominated the judges. trump had nothing to do with the decades-long war to take over the courts, nothing to do with the Federalist Society, nothing to do with the over half a billion dollars spent to confirm the right-wing judges, nothing to do with the donors and their agenda. He just nominated the names he was handed.

The country should learn more about the issue than to call it the MAGA movement and tie it to trump. They should learn that abortion is just the 'fluff' issue used to get votes to get power, that what they really care about are rulings to undermine democracy so they can seize power, and to take away the people's power to limit what the wealthy do. Abortion is just a side issue for them, not what they care about.

I didn't say you should. I said pass a law. Use your democracy.

Oh, well, IF Biden said it, it must be true.
I guess Joe forget the "separate but equal" fight. It's only constitutional law.

There isn't much 'learning by experience'. Ask China, they can learn by experience as much as they like, does that help? The tyranny is still in power firmly if they 'learn by experience'.

tshade, your argument isn't much use if you don't actually make the argument for the groups you claim are more radical. Your post is nothing more than "Nuh uh".

America isn't china. We don't have dictators, yet.
