Yeah, Biden has created a bit of a "situation" he'll have to figure out how deal with. Paying people too much money to stay home and not work was not the best plan for preventing business closures and letting the market simply work as it could following the pandemic. Biden is a mess!

I had the choice of continuing to collect unemployment and live on my severance. I preferred to take a straight commission sales job and be productive instead. By the way, I'm totally crushing it on my sales volume.

Oh, by the way, I'm a proud liberal. You see? We like to work, too!

Your fake god Trump the Terrorist did not care what taxpayers do with their stimulus money. You are only criticizing President Biden for doing the same thing because he is a Democrat.

$600 dollars a week is not enough to live on much less turn down a good job.

Biden does know what workers are doing and BS lying anti american right wing nuts sure as hell don't know. These creeps get on a rant that some political rhetoric team sent out then keep repeating it as if it is true.
The single largest crime family on planet earth is ALEC hiding behind the GOP name thus both become a
crime family.

it seems like it should be a crime to make crime legal.

And if Biden had allowed the unemployment benefits to expire on March14th, as scheduled under the CARES Act, you all would be bitching about that. 🙄

I have mentioned my rumination on a prior thread, but how many of these folks who have not returned to the workforce are parents (mainly women) from a previously two-income household where they cannot afford childcare? Anecdotally, I know of people who are unable to work at home who have kids where there are no summer school programs or affordable childcare and there is no choice but for one of the parents to remain at home. I wonder if the statistics shall be made available to us?

Biden and the democrats need to keep shelling out more stimulus money to keep our economy humming along. BUT DO NOT GIVE ANY STIMULUS MONEY directly corporations. Give the money to millions upon millions of hard working people and they will distribute the money effectively.

The republican party created this economic disaster through Rump and associates by holding back information about COVID 19 until the economy became a shamble = why are republicans so damn
stupid?

Yes the government created this fiasco through negligence therefore they owe we the American people more of OUR TAX DOLLARS preferably every month. The government fuc-ed up the economy most likely a premeditated event therefore yes the government owes we taxpayers for damages. Millions upon millions of Americans ought to be taking congress to court in one monster law suit.

Nov 2, 2020 — President Donald Trump has repeatedly lied about the coronavirus pandemic and the country's preparation for this once-in-a-generation crisis.

Trump's Covid lies were a tragedy. Were they also a crime?

Yes it is absolutely time to sue congress and the ALEC GOP for trillions in damages NOW!!!!!

They lied they lied they lied thus they owe we americans tons of money!!!!!!!

Some simply want to ignore all the others factors these people, largely minimum wage earners, face in going back to work. Lack of child care, kids doing home learning, comfort with the safety of the workplace as examples. So easy when we judge from a position of comfort and likely have no one in our circle facing these issues......those of us whose worst problem is having to wear those annoying masks.

Oh please...this is the old Reagan gangs "nobody wants to work when they can be on welfare" dusted off and updated. This is the usual GOP JOKE.

Unemployment Insurance recipients have "enough money coming in" to stay out of work is the old "welfare recipients have all the money" trope, another Reagan era laugher again dusted off and updated. The GOP is just PITIFUL as is anybody that swallows their swill.

Who is to say for one month that the "experts" were wrong and 1 million new jobs expected for April was just a plain old MISS!

Joe, Joe, Joe. First the border, now this. Your failure to anticipate the consequences of your decisions are, frankly, a terrifying thing. What if something really, really serious happens? We'll have Joe coming up with a plan?
So sad you were lied into office. Unfortunately, your VP is a wackjob, so no joy there.
Pray for the USA.

Of course people are staying on UI instead of going back to their $7.50 an hour job.

We can blame Republicans for that, they've been shitting on the working man and holding down wages since Reagan..

Someone offers state and Fed UI for $500 a week, or $300 a week at a job that pays crap? Only the moronic Republican base would take the $300
.

My problem with the GOP argument is that it harkens back to the "they don't want to work" arguments of the Reagan era. Its such BS.

Also, applications for employment were UP in April over March. So I have no clue what the hell the GOP is yammering about this time other than desperately needing something to yammer about.

You do realize that all this didn't start under his administration, yes?

We're starting to transition out of the pandemic, hopefully enough people choose to vaccinate so we can get out ASAP, and we're gonna change up some relaxing of the rules we went through during the pandemic. And that's where Biden is now.

That being said, if businesses need labor then they need to offer labor the wages and benefits to draw labor.

The source of the problem is that one side tends to have empathy, which helps them understand the situation, and the other side tends not to have empathy, which leaves them mystified and angry.

They didn't feel this way when they were cashing all of their free-stuff stimulus checks.

You just need to understand what Joe is saying.

He's telling us that people aren't staying on unemployment because they make more that way than actually cooking fries. They are staying away from those jobs because the cheap bastard employers are refusing to pay $75k/yr for cooking fries.

love it

Pay a decent wage and people will work. The company i work for pays above average hourly rates (I'm in retail management) and we've had no problems staying staffed.

Doubly idiotic....do any of you know which demographic has more people in absolute numbers living at or below the poverty line in this country? ITS WHITE PEOPLE......by a wide margin.

White people by leaps and bounds makes up the bulk of the GOP by a country mile. Yet its elected representatives continue to insist on convincing them that it makes sense to cut off their nose to spite their faces.....in fact, cut of their noses and ears and eyes too spite their faces.

The GOP Mantra, lets "talk" about bringing jobs back to America but as far as doing anything to make that happen, like a real living breathing full throated Infrastructure plan, "Oh NOOOOOOO.....we don't want to vote for that."

There's no evidence that the extra $300/week is significantly altering peoples' decisions to go back to work.

It's a pay shortage. Stop working people into an early grave for a wage that lets them barely scrape by, you'll get more people to sign up. Basic supply and demand.

Stronger social safety nets help businesses in a situation like this, because people are less afraid to spend money when they aren't as worried about making rent.
