Biden Confronts Trump on Safety: ‘He Can’t Stop the Violence’

Joseph R. Biden Jr. on Monday issued a forceful rebuttal to President Trump’s claim that the former vice president would preside over a nation overwhelmed by disorder and lawlessness, asserting that it was Mr. Trump who had made the country unsafe through his erratic and incendiary governing style. Mr. Biden condemned the violence that has occasionally erupted amid largely peaceful protests over racial injustice, and noted that the chaos was occurring on the president’s watch. He said Mr. Trump had made things worse by stoking division amid a national outcry over racism and police brutality. “Does anyone believe there will be less violence in America if Donald Trump is re-elected?” he said. “We need justice in America. We’re facing multiple crises — crises that under Donald Trump, have kept multiplying.” Mr. Biden rejected the suggestion that lawlessness would go unchecked under his leadership. “Really? I want a safe America. Safe from Covid, safe from crime and looting, safe from racially motivated violence, safe from bad cops. Let me be crystal clear: safe from four more years of Donald Trump.” He promised he would seek to “lower the temperature in this country,” something he suggested Mr. Trump was unable to do. “He can’t stop the violence because for years he’s fomented it,” Mr. Biden said.

He repeatedly instructed voters to ignore Mr. Trump’s attempts to transfer responsibility to Democrats for the problems unfolding under his administration. “He keeps telling us if he was president you’d feel safe,” Mr. Biden said. “Well, he is president, whether he knows it or not.” The former vice president sought to refocus the spotlight on Mr. Trump and make the election a referendum on the president’s character and his stewardship of the pandemic. He cast Mr. Trump as a destabilizing force who had exacerbated the most urgent problems facing the nation, from the public health crisis, international affairs and unemployment to issues around police brutality, white supremacy and racism. “He may believe mouthing the words ‘law and order’ makes him strong, but his failure to call on his own supporters to stop acting as an armed militia in this country shows how weak he is,” Mr. Biden said. “They’ve been throwing all kinds of stuff at Joe Biden from the beginning,” said Representative Dina Titus, Democrat of Nevada. “It’s just a big, muddled message.” Mr. Trump is expected to visit Kenosha on Tuesday, though a growing chorus of Wisconsin officials have urged him to reconsider amid a tense environment on the ground.

To no one's surprise, Trump is in Kenosha today dialing up the tensions.

Trump is in Kenosha right now. When he leaves, nothing will have improved, which means he's too weak to fix anything.

But, but, he alone can fix it. He said so himself.

Oops, they spelled "Threatens" wrong.

But, but, he alone can fix it. He said so himself.

"If you don't re-elect me the disorder happening under my watch will continue."

We'll just have to wait and see if angry leftist mobs continue to hunt teenagers.

Biden can hardly get out of the basement let alone stop the violence his side have been perpetrating for months on end.

The President, when requested, can release the federal troops to state governors to handle state emergencies.

If the state governors do not request the aid then the President doesn't send in the troops, it's that simple.

The Governor of Oregon and Wisconsin, and various Democrat mayors have spent the last several months insisting that the clearly evident rioting was not actually happening, and have refused, repeatedly, the President's offers to send Federal troops.

What their refusal does it put Trump in the position to usurp State authority by sending in Federal Troops against the wishes of state leadership (as with Desegregation), or let the state have its wish and sort out its own mess. The "Authoritarian" Trump left it to the states to sort out, only opting for limited deployment of federal forces when Antifa and BLM rioters chose to attack Federal property rather than state and local property.

Now that the BLM and Antifa rioters have turned against the Democrat leadership in these states they have to finally admit that there are riots in their states and do a 180 on the need for Federal troops... and then gaslight everyone that this issue was Trump refusing to send troops rather than their refusal to accept troops.

But it is a desperate gaslighting attempt undone by endless evidence of their own malfeasance.

Only an absolute idiot would fall for the Democrat gaslighting.

Donald Trump can't get a loan from a US bank. Why do we expect anything from him?

Riots have been going on in major Democratic Party run cities for many years.

Rioters, anarchists and insurgents are already being arrested in Kenosha. You don't think the president is coming alone and wouldn't have an advance team, do you?

Who do you think blinks first - the rioters/anarchist/criminals - or the President of the United States?

Trump is in Kenosha right now. When he leaves, nothing will have improved, which means he's too weak to fix anything.

How is he supposed to "fix" angry, violent leftists and keep them from stealing, burning and vandalizing things?

Hey that sounds like a great topic. Why dont you go start a thread on it

Since you and I agree that Trump is useless an ineffectual, then surely you can also agree that we should give the job to Biden instead.

they don't even realize that they're admitting that Trump can't lead.

Delusional as ever I see.

No, the idiots are those who believe it is Trumps job to end this. I dont have time to educate you on how our Federalist system works. Perhaps they will get to it for you now that school is back in session. But in short, that is why we have things called mayors and governors and police forces. Surely you have heard of them. The leadership required here is from local officials who all happen to be democrats. Which is why you dont criticize them.
