Joe wants to be Leader Of The Free World, yet he apparently does not know who invented the light bulb.

At a campaign event yesterday morning, Joe told community leaders in Kenosha, Wisconsin that "a black man, NOT Thomas Edison, invented the light bulb."

He also told a crowd that the reason for racial discrimination was that "people fear that which is different."

Implying that black Americans are different from everyone else. Interesting take on racial relations, Joe.

Biden claims Black man invented light bulb during campaign event | Fox News

Here is Joe, word for word...

"People fear that which is different. We've got to, for example, why in God's name don't we teach history in history classes? A Black man invented the light bulb, not a White guy named Edison," Biden said. "There's so much — did anybody know before what recently happened that Black Wall Street in Oklahoma was burned to the ground. Anybody know these things? Because we don't teach them. We've got to give people facts."

It was Edison who first invented the light bulb and a filament that could last 1,200 hours. According to the Department of Energy, Edison secured patents for the incandescent light bulb in 1879 and 1880. Biden was likely referring to Lewis Howard Latimer, who, according to a biography by MIT, patented an improved version of an incandescent light bulb in 1881 that could last even longer than Edison's.

Biden was right...a black man did invent the light bulb...

The light bulb

Latimer received a patent on January 17, 1882 for the "Process of Manufacturing Carbons", an improved method for the production of lightbulb carbon filaments.[8][9]

The Edison Electric Light Company in New York City hired Latimer in 1884, as a draftsman and an expert witness in patent litigation on electric lights. While at Edison, Latimer wrote the first book on electric lighting, Incandescent Electric Lighting (1890)[10] and supervised the installation of public electric lights throughout New York, Philadelphia, Montreal, and London.[11] When that company was combined in 1892 with the Thomson-Houston Electric Company to form General Electric, he continued to work in the legal department. In 1911, he became a patent consultant to law firms.[12]..."

1854 - Heinrich Göbel, a German watchmaker, invented the first true lightbulb. He used a carbonized bamboo filament placed inside a glass bulb.

Did he get a patent?

Edison invented the light bulb, but Latimer improved upon it a few years later.

(From the article in the OP...)

The problem with Biden's statement is that he specifically said Edison didn't invent the light bulb.

Interesting. You do not raise an eyebrow on any of Trump's claims, but Biden makes a semi-accurate statement and you go nuts. We all understand what he was trying to say. Lewis Howard Latimer helped to construct the light bulb.Without Latimer, there's no light bulb.

You've got it backwards.

The accusations about Trump are based on no evidence whatsoever, except rumors from anonymous sources claiming they can't rule it out.

Biden is directly quoted in this article, word for word.

Big difference.

So, have Trump's thugs in the DOJ located these people dressed in black flying on airplanes and controlling Biden?

Not sure.

Have Biden's thugs located these people who actually heard Trump make these statements? Real people, not fictitious?

wtf? Even Laura Ingraham or whatever her name is had to try and help Trump from his own whack job conspiracy theories.

And the liberal media's whack job theory that Trump verbally disrespects veterans? Based on nothing but fictitious anonymous sources?

I'm not justifying either one BTW.

Considering he made fun of McCain for being captured...;)

Fox News confirmed the story btw.

Nothing Biden said was technically inaccurate.

Again, you dismiss Trump's inaccurate statements, but when Biden does it, you go all nuts. Double standard.

Semi accurate? Lol.

these are the things that Trump Republicans are gonna have to try to sell while our actually President trashes our military, didn't respond to a pandemic, had his charity shut down, lost a lawsuit by customers at Trump U and walks in on naked teens.

Trump said the Continental Army took over the airports....word for word...

“The Continental Army suffered a bitter winter of Valley Forge, found glory across the waters of the Delaware, and seized victory from Cornwallis of Yorktown. Our army manned the air, it rammed the ramparts, it took over the airports, it did everything it had to do. And at Fort McHenry, under the rockets’ red glare, it had nothing but victory. And when dawn came, their Star Spangled Banner waved defiant.”

WaPo, FoxNews, the Military Times, all confirmed and validated the sources....Trump hates the military...called them losers and suckers.

Sources dispute claim Trump nixed visit to military cemetery over disdain for slain veterans, but back up parts of Atlantic report | Fox News

"Sources said they never heard Trump call war dead 'losers' or 'suckers;' other details remain in dispute."

Now, who are those anonymous sources and who confirmed them? At least the Atlantic said their sources were officials in the DoD and another was a high ranking commander and they were verified by other news outlets.

None of the sources in your FoxNews article are saying he didn't say it...only that they didn't hear it. But more importantly none of them said it was out of Trump's character to have said it.

When Lewis Howard Latimer applied for his patent, Edison's light bulb would burn through the filament after 15 hrs. of use. The 1,200 hr. Edison bulb didn't come around until after Latimer's patent. Lewis also worked with Alexander Graham Bell, and some think that it was he who actually invented the telephone that Bell took credit for.

But more importantly none of them said it was out of Trump's character to have said it.

This statement is completely meaningless.

No one has confirmed that it is out of Biden’s character to refute the accusation that he is controlled by the US Communist Party.

Lame.

You're comparing opinion to fact. There's no evidence that Biden is a communist, it's merely unsubstantiated political opinion....but there's plenty of empirical evidence of
old Bone Spurs disrespecting and shaming the military and that only anti-gubbamint, white nationalist types seem willing to ignore. The right are oxymorons.

The "light bulb" was invented before either Edison or Latimer were even born.

iLOl :lamo Wrong as usual.

Latimer was a minor contributor to the filament which was in a constant flux of engineering.

William D. Coolidge is responsible for the tungsten filament that eventually became the standard.

Apparently, lots of claims have been made as to who invented the light bulb. But one thing we all seem to agree on is that wasn't Edison.
