Cue the usual suspects and paid shills to parrot the "polls are fake", or "oversampled Democrats", lines. Mind you, they are the first to bring up any of these polls that shows Biden and Democrats with poor numbers, or any kind of good polling numbers that can be shown for Trump and the GOP. It basically amounts to, polls that favor Republicans = Real, polls that favor Democrats = Fake.

Any way, it's obvious to everyone that unless Trump croaks he will be the GOP nominee in 2024. He's still widely disliked among the majority of the country, even as an ex president, and the GOP fully knows that he could easily lose again in 2024, regardless of what happens in 2022. The GOP wants DeSantis, or really anybody else, but the Trump albatross around their collective necks remains because he still holds massive support among the radicalized Republican base. Basically, if they don't at least pretend to support him...Trump will mount a third party bid, and destroy them in 2024. Couldn't happen to a nicer group of scumbahgs

The problem the GOP has is that of the 75 million who voted for Trump in 2020, a good many of them will not vote for him again after how he comported himself after November 3, 2020 and particularly after the events of January 6, 2021. On the other hand, the 81 million who voted against him have been given no reason to choose differently... he continues to be a spoiled toddler throwing tantrums, spreading lies and conspiracy theories, and surrounding himself with clowns. If he runs again, the GOP will lose again.

It sure would be nice for the GOP to return to actual conservatism and excise the Trump circus show, so that most of the country could start taking them seriously again.

Its what happens when you do polling years ahead of an election with a challenger and an incumbent. The incumbant is always considered the one candidate of that party. Whereas the challenger is one of several. in other words some Republicans want Trump. Some want DeSantis. Some want a variety of other candidates. When the campaign season actually starts and moves along, one candidate will garner all of the polling votes. That will likely be Trump. I expect Biden to drop out well before the campaign season. You know. Hunter Biden payola legal issues.

Interesting poll but waaaaaay too early to mean anything. Not surprising though given Trump’s favorability numbers.

I disagree here. A small chunk, maybe, but the majority of the Republican base, aided by Trump and his allies in right wing corporate media, believe that 1/6 was either not a big deal, a Democratic hoax, or a combined effort of a Democratic hoax with the "FBI", and "deep state".

And the GOP hasn't been "conservative" ever in my lifetime, especially when it comes to fiscal matters. Pretty much anything they claim to be for, "small government", "law enforcement", "family values", has always been a farce when they are in power. They cater to right wing idiots and religious zealots for votes, but do the complete opposite when in power, Trump included. All they care about is cutting taxes for their wealthy donors and handlers, and putting as many groomed federalist society judges on the courts. Been that way for decades

shrug...you won't get any judgement from me, since your link doesn't even GIVE sampling numbers.

Makes me wonder what they are trying to hide.

The problem with the Democrat party is after all of the truly horrendous decisions Biden has made with the border and economics and foreign relations, and Afghanistan, many Democrat voters will sit this one out or switch to the good policies of Trump and vote Republican.

You're right it's early, but then again Biden was leading Trump by similar digits back in 2017...and we all saw what happened.

Either way, the GOP doesn't want Trump as their candidate in 2024 because they know he's divisive loser. The question is, will they be able to stop him without alienating his base? Highly doubtful.

I truly do not want either of these old men to run again. I have liked Biden's policies and the way he has handled the war in Ukraine, but he is just getting too old. And as for Trump. I never voted for the jackass and I never would. and he sometimes seems senile/

Agreed, but Biden may still have the best shot at keeping Trump or one of his fascist shit for brains clones from obtaining power. Kamala Harris, for a variety of reasons, would be very vulnerable to lose.

What are you talking about? Trump is extremely popular.

Putin and Russia are so toxic that Trump will never be able to separate from it.

A lot of them died of Covid, because they didn't think it was serious enough to get vaccinated.

Biden will not make it to the 2024 campaign season. He is losing it big time. He can hardly put two words together as it is. He is the big guy in his son and brother's payola gambit. His finances are commingled with his son's. Who will be the Democrat's candidate for 2024?

Why are citizens so obsessed with 2 old have beens instead of focusing on more appealing candidates?

I highly doubt either one will run for the presidency in 2024. I’d just like to remind Republicans that they’re still the smaller of the two major parties, hence they must win the independent vote or lose the election. Independents still don’t like Trump. As such, if he does run, he’ll lose unless the Democrats nominate another Hillary Clinton who independents disliked more than they disliked Trump in 2016

With the 2024 election still some 31 months away, polls this far out mean nothing. The midterms are around 7 months off, polls on the midterms have little meaning either especially since redistricting for all 50 states hasn’t been completed. So much can happen between now and then.

Now if it floats your boat, here’s the polls on Biden vs. Trump 2024. All of them.

Any public opinion with trump closer than a 98% Biden - 2% trump margin is ridiculous.

The problem is that the two parties do not allow a centrist candidate acceptable to the majority of voters to be nominated.
