Biden administration resumes oil and gas leases on federal lands as gasoline prices soar

Explain why we still imported oil/gas when Trump was President? How does that make us independent?
We were NOT oil independent we were a NET EXPORTER of energy some people say energy independent
we imported oil refined it and exported it along with Coal , Natural gas and other mixed products
what has happened some people think and say were were oil independent and energy independent when that is not true we were never ENERGY INDEPENDENT we were a net exporter of energy.
we still had to import oil to refine and export and we import electricity from Canada for some of our states in the north
Have a nice day

Your claim was we never reached energy independence under Trump. I proved we did so now you move the goal post to oil alone.LOL
My point the term 'energy independence' can not be taken at face value, meaning the US produces all the energy it needs. That IS a false assertion.

He was wrong and still is with this decision to put about 20% of federal lands previously available back into play - the catch is that the leasing cost was increased by 50% (which many might say is price gouging). A link with a few more details follows:

This was a mistake on bidens part. This won't help gas prices at all.

This is a BS statement crafted by the liberals. We were energy independent under Trump and didn't need to rely on Iran, Russia, or anyone else.

Do you know how much people pay for gas in Saudi Arabia? Why is that?
Well this is a lie.

The lie is about trump. He went and asked the Saudis.

But hey we all can't play the roll of dishonest poster around here

The link doesn't say Trump lied.

In about May of 2020 the US oil industry could not compete because of the Saudi /Russian price war where the price of oil got down where it was selling in the Minus region.
Nobody on the right seems to remember that.
The US oil producers went to Trump and put political pressure on him and he went to the Saudi's and TOLD them to cut their production and raise prices or he was going to stop their Military aid,
It was THAT price war that had the US oil producers shut down their wells everybody is trying blame Biden for all of this and that isn't true He had nothing to do with the US oil industry shutting down.
and before this happened we were a NET ENERGY EXPORTER NOT energy independent , we still imported oil about 7 million barrels a day
US oil producers were pumping almost 13 million barrels a day the most ever in Dec 2019, and we were consuming about 20million barrels a day
then the price war and the US production fell to 9.711 million barrels a day in May of 2020

a drop of almost 4 Million barrels a day
and as we can see in the chart it was in 2019 BEFORE Biden took office and we can also see production has been on a steady INCREASE since Biden took office NOT DECREASE.

Have a nice evening

Why is Biden pushing so hard to increase the amount of fossil fuels burned? What the actual ****?

Politics.
That's always the reason to destroy the environment. And he won't be around to see the effects, so he clearly doesn't give a **** when he can have votes now.

You all set?

You all set?
I will likely never be set while the president of the United States takes actions to increase fossil fuel emissions.

What specifically are "fossil fuel emissions"? Do you mean CO2? What's wrong with CO2 emissions? It's a greenhouse gas and plant food.

How is that cherry-picking? Season started early?

It did when Trump was president.
No the US has never produced all of it's own energy needs.
It was actually under Obama that the US became the largest oil producer and that continued under Trump but as I showed you the US has never produced more oil than it consumes.

Co2 emissions are a greenhouse gas that linger in the atmosphere and reflect radiant energy from the sun, increasing the energy (and thus temperatures) in the global thermal system.

This causes a host of problems that range from sea level rise to altered weather and moisture patterns across the globe. Increased crop yields are a positive, but only for a small subset of the population.

US reached energy independence under Trump . Just fact.

"U.S. energy production in 2019 was higher than U.S. energy consumption for the first time in 62 years. Thus, the U.S. attained the long-held goal of “energy independence”—which is not to say that we did not import or export energy, but that we produced more energy than we used. One can thank the oil and gas industry and its use of hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling for that milestone as production in those industries increased a combined 11 percent in 2019. Total U.S. energy production increased by 5.7 percent in 2019 while U.S. energy demand decreased by 0.9 percent. The United States produced 101.0 quadrillion British thermal units (quads) of energy and consumed 100.2 quads last year. Fossil fuels accounted for 80 percent of both energy consumption and production in 2019."

This is about all energy production, including renewables, and it occurred during the height of the covid pandemic when energy consumption overall was down.
My info was about oil and gas production, and for that the US has never produced more than it uses.

Your original post was specifically on US energy. You moved the goal post after being proven wrong.

So let me kick one through your new goal post just for fun.

The U.S. Just Became a Net Oil Exporter for the First Time in 75 Years

America turned into a net oil exporter last week, breaking almost 75 years of continued dependence on foreign oil and marking a pivotal — even if likely brief — moment toward what U.S. President Donald Trump has branded as “energy independence.”

The shift to net exports is the dramatic result of an unprecedented boom in American oil production, with thousands of wells pumping from the Permian region of Texas and New Mexico to the Bakken in North Dakota to the Marcellus in Pennsylvania.
