Seems to me that neither side is willing to budge. If you ask most democrats its the republicans who won't compromise; if you ask the republicans its the democrats who aren't willing to meet halfway. Regardless, the net result is gridlock and that nothing of consequence gets done via compromise.The GOP made a calculated political decision back in 2008 to not find middle ground.
