…true conformity to the spirit and language of our Constitution could be best secured, by confining the instruction in the common schools which are supported by general taxation, to secular knowledge and moral and intellectual culture, leaving what is commonly understood by religious and doctrinal teachings, to other and more appropriate instrumentalities.

Hmmm...should I start with noting that "Judge Taft" asserted that morality should be taught in the public school, that he was in the *minority* opinion in this alleged decision or that you didn't provide a verifiable source (ie; hyperlink)?

Take your pick and we'll go from there.
