Gonna be a badge created for this deployment!

Vs. sit around and partake is mindless woke training?

“If it moves, salute it, if it doesn’t move, pick it up, if you can’t pick it up, paint it!”

Police Call!

I think Trump was hoping for a dramatic protest edging toward riots in response to his deployment of the National Guard as justification for the deployment after the fact. The fact that nothing is happening and the National Guard is standing around more or less picking their noses is the exact worst response Trump could have hoped for here. There is no one on either side of the aisle who doesn't think that the optics of this whole thing is just plain stupid at this point. Nothing could make Donald Trump look dumber than deploying the National Guard to stand around where nothing is happening.

I hope those on the left continue this type of response to Trump's desperate attempts to inflame partisan rage: Calm bemusement at Trump's obviously moronic antics. There is no form of protest or civil disobedience that could damage his presidency more than just sitting back and watching the stupidity and then voting in the next election accordingly. Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.

So Trump took NG members away from their homes and jobs to do community service like criminals. I'm sure they appreciate it.

Nailed it!

Stephen got his wish,

Aren’t they supposed to be patrolling the high crime areas of DC to reduce the “crime emergency”?

Yes, i bet those guys who signed up for the national guard are utterly thrilled to now be trash collectors.

Morale must be through the roof.

It's called "Policing The Area." You go outside and pick up litter.

Trash aka garbage gets picked up regularly from dumpsters by contracted businesses.

So and but only in the loosest sense of the word, these redneck states National Guard grunts are doing "police work." Well, sort of "police work" anyway . After this they can go home and tell their kids and colleagues at work they did "police work" during their unsaid useless duty assignment to DC against the bad guy criminals, rapists, pedos, thieves, con men and other MAGA heroes the same as Trump is.

Policing the area is what you do when there's nothing else for you to do. On post and while nobody likes policing the area it's a picnic given anyone caught littering on an armed forces base is rare. Fewer smokers as there are in the AVF, those who smoke outdoors "field strip" the smoked butt by fingering its burning head off onto the ground and stomping it. You put the filter into your pocket to dispose of at a trash barrel or inside your barracks. Those caught violating this strict practice get their hands cut off which is why this is such an effective rule.

It's the same for grunts standing around with their hands in their pockets which is a capital violation of military decorum -- hands are chopped off on the spot to make the point to everyone. Which is why we rarely if ever see a grunt standing around with his hands in his pockets. These are just a few of the many military secrets that there are that make our armed forces what they are.

How about using them for ways to get people interested in exercise?
It could end in being a positive outcome for the area.
