Watergate reporter Carl Bernstein said Sunday that President Trump has been cornered for the first time in his life.

"He is boxed in by Mueller and the people around him know that he is and it's on the question of ... possible collusion with Russia and unquestionably a massive obstruction of justice that is now demonstrable for all to see, led by the president of the United States to cover up whatever the dealings of himself, his family, his aides were with Russia," Bernstein told CNN's "Reliable Sources" Sunday, following several bombshell legal filings last week by Robert Mueller's special counsel team regarding people close to the president.

I have a lot of respect for Bernstein's opinion because of the great job he & Woodward did on the Watergate disaster that brought down a President.

Congratulations. You've got all the new threads. Who knew those speedy fingers would pay off so handsomely one day.

Bernstein,'this is worse than Watergate', is a CNN hack...
Where's Bernstein's evidence?
Presently, there is no evidence of collusion with Russia.

And Nixon knew nothing about the Watergate break in too.

You trumpsters really must hate Mike Pence. If trump leaves office, Pence will become President. But you trumpsters DON'T WANT PENCE.

Kinda funny cos Pence has the sort of far right conservative values that you republicans supposedly cherish. For eg. I can't recall Pence ever committing adultery or porking a porn star and paying her $130K to keep quiet about it.

Thus far, SDNY has done more damage than Mueller with the two incidents of potential campaign finance violations, imo.

But Mueller is being more methodical and building a public case, week by week.

Last I heard it wasn't about 'Russian collusion' but 2 instances where private money was used for hush money for affairs.
Let me know if real evidence of Russian collusion is substantiated, not if some journalist with an axe to grind claims anything.

Not even certain, at this point, it would appear, that there were campaign finance violations, and if so, hasn't the standard been paying a fine?

I'm not sure how to answer your question but I agree it appears there were some campaign finance violations, but intent will have to be proven for them to stick.
Trump may simply argue he was hiding these affairs from his wife. They need more corroboration than Cohen who would say anything to the NY prosecutors to save his own skin.

You have a hard enough time speaking for yourself without attempting to speak for me.
You haven't a clue as to what I think about anything...

It has nothing to do with the affairs. It has everything to do with where the money came from. Since Cohen appears to have potentially illegal used campaign finances for the payoff, then that's on Cohen, up and until, there's evidence that Trump directed him to do what he did, and it's going to take more than just Cohen's word on it. It's going to take some hard evidence, factual evidence.

Oh...there's that hyperbole again...

yawn...

The operative word (I thank you for being honest about it) is "potential".

Now all they have to do is show that there was a crime committed.

And the Left wants to badly to believe they will jar lightning again.

Presently, there is no evidence of collusion with Russia.

There's a bundle. His top campaign operatives were all up and down Russia. There's also a ton of evidence of obstruction, and quite unrelated campaign finance violations. This lot are rotten to the core and when teh report finally drops there'll be a lot of stuff for Trump fans to call 'fake news', otherwise known as the facts of the case.

Unless someone pleads guilty to a crime, any charges brought by prosecutors are "potential". They must still be tried in a court of law.

Now, that is not the same bar used to determine if offenses are impeachable. I don't see them as impeachable as they stand right now.

Pence is neck deep in the issues involving the Russia probe, and will never see a day as POTUS.

I'll believe when I read it, and until then you're just speculating.

Oh...now you want to talk about impeachment.

Make up your mind, eh?

Well that there is a lot of evidence is not speculation it is a fact: we've seen much of it. But it is true that we're speculating about the result. Whether it will result in specific charges or a conviction is yet to be seen. As Mycroft asked, can it be demonstrated that the president broke the law? For that we'll have to wait and see, you're right.

The very fact NY prosecutors are even investigating Cohen I think should be the basis for a RICO action. This is clearly racketeering

I hear there are tapes.

I hear there are tapes.

The recordings of Cohen and Trump that have been released to date are at best inconclusive, if I recall. Perhaps there are more. Perhaps not.

There are. Stated in the briefs that there are 100s more tapes from Michael Cohen. You have to at some point come to terms with the fact that these people are not criminal masterminds. Michael Cohen didn't create a bunch of fake tapes for the FBI to listen to just so he could go to jail for Donald Trump...
