Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is expected to formally endorse presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, potentially ending tensions between the two and easing the concerns of party leaders hoping for a united front ahead of the nominating convention later this month.
The endorsement is expected to occur next Tuesday, when Sanders and Clinton will appear together at a rally in New Hampshire, Democratic sources first told NBC News on Wednesday.

Sanders all but confirmed that he would endorse Clinton in an interview with Bloomberg on Thursday.

Expected that he would endorse Clinton. I thought he was gonna hold out till the convention, but it seems its going to come a little bit earlier.

Alternate headline: Bernie Sanders to show he's just a typical politician under a hobo-outsider facade next week.

No balls on either side of the aisle -- as usual.

Good, he made a responsible and mature choice.

I'll try not expect too much from his hardcore supporters though.

Sigh. Well there goes his principles.

Sigh. Well there goes his principles.

at this point the main principle is to NOT allow Trump - a potentially psycho ego magical authoritian with fascist and racist tendencies to get into the White House with a Republican Congress to wreak havoc on the American people .

Seems like his hate for Republicans overpowers his love or "revolution." He's your typical whipped liberal bowing to DNC demands. If he really cared he would have run with Jill Stein as her VP and continue on his momentum. Partisanship > principals

Well, he must have gotten what he wanted from the DNC and / or Hillary. Last I heard, he wasn't going to endorse her.

Now I wonder what he got from either / or?? Hmm.

We can already see that some of Bernie's supporters are most certainly not in favor of him endorsing Hillary, we see this in this very thread already. I take this to mean that not will Bernie lose supporters over this, that they won't vote for Hillary anyway. So I don't suspect that this will significantly change the voting landscape.

Despite the naysayers, I'm (tentatively) good with this.

Hillary announces she's putting a Bernie-like higher education tenet in the DNC platform (tuition-free state schools for those making under $125K), and Bernie subsequently announces he'll endorse! Hopefully he extrapolated more platform concessions from her in exchange for his endorsement. I know free tuition & universal healthcare were his two biggies, but she differed with him vehemently and adamantly over single-payer.

I see no problem with him endorsing, if it moves his agenda forward in some manner. That's the whole idea - to implement his agenda (unlike others who lust after greed and power).

But my tentativeness is due to my hoping he's keeping his email & donor lists to his-self, so he can assist her but keep his movement semi-antonymous, effective, and relevant.

Exactly - he seems to have gotten a variation of his college tuition plan out of her, and hopefully he got more than that which we can't see or haven't heard about.

He got to move his agenda and the country forward, and if he's as altruistic as I suspect he is, that's what the game is all about.

Now let's hope he can hold his coalition together to deliver, and fight another day ...

**** Sanders. The Revolution continues with or without him.

Read the article, watched the video: it's not an endorsement or promise of an endorsement. Complete misframing.

That said however, I think that Bernie is now actually in a position to provide an endorsement without betraying his supporters since he won policy compromises: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...rs-has-won-in-the-democratic-platform-so-far/

What makes you say "without him"?

He hasn't gone anywhere, and this is but one election in his long career.

I see no reason he can't pledge support for this election in exchange for platform concessions, yet keep his movement and coalition alive.

We did this in my city on a smaller scale for quite awhile, with an independent street-crew of precinct workers, getting the favorable attentions we desired. I'm sure Bernie is smart enough to know the power he has, and how to extract favorable quid-pro-quo.

Quid-pro-quo is not Revolution. He is contradicting himself by endorsing Clinton.

Hillary and Bernie are not of the same political class.

Period.

The people who voted for him (myself included) didn't vote for "quid-pro-quo", we voted for Revolution. The best-case scenario would have been her picking him as VP, that way he could influence foreign policy and reign in Hillary's imperialism and warmongering.

Now we will have both of those, unfettered and more rampant than ever under Clinton-Kaine.

Not surprised, but still kind of disappointed that Bernie is bowing out like this. It would've been nice to vote for him even if he didn't stand a chance. Now I won't be voting for anyone.

Thank you so much for this article!

Yes, he appears to be doing very well inside the DNC in terms of his platform tenets, and seems to have gotten *5* committee appointees! FIVE!!!

So six for HRC, five for Bernie, and four for the DNC - not bad at all!

Look, I voted for him too.

There was nothing to be gained going any further (this election).

He's smart enough to know he can get concessions today, and (hopefully) keep his movement alive to fight another day.

Why not take a look at my link in post #18 in this thread - he got 5 delegates (of 15) on the DNC platform committee! That's pretty amazing, in light of HRC getting only 1 more (6)!

What can you possible expect from the democrats , a commie socialist and a corrupt liar join hands to screw the Nation !

And an ego maniac reality star to screw the repubs.

I bet you have no idea what communism is and I bet you dont have an idea what socialism is. I bet all you think they are are big buzz words that means "gov control"....

If this succeeds before the DNC, Clinton will bring Bernie down with her. I sincerely hope he's not that stupid (but to be fair, he DID think the DNC would actually play fair with an outsider like him, and played down the emails when he shouldn't have, so who knows anymore)...

Republicans officially petitioned the administration Thursday to deny Hillary Clinton access to secret information as Democrats’ presidential nominee, and some GOP lawmakers said if the intelligence community won’t do it, they’ll pass a bill to do it themselves.

But Republicans said Mrs. Clinton’s behavior with her private email server while secretary of state was so egregious that it should trump tradition and cost her the chance to see secret, sensitive material. They cited FBI Director James Comey’s admonition that while Mrs. Clinton’s behavior wasn’t criminal, it was “extremely careless” and would likely result in sanctions that could include loss of security privileges. House Speaker Paul D. Ryan sent a letter to Director of National Intelligence James Clapper officially asking him not to grant Mrs. Clinton the traditional briefings.

No matter the spin, this is huge.
