Sen. Bernie Sanders on Monday released a decade of tax returns, providing new insight into how the Democratic socialist senator from Vermont became a millionaire between his two presidential runs.

"I consider paying more in taxes as my income rose to be both an obligation and an investment in our country," he added. "I will continue to fight to make our tax system more progressive so that our country has the resources to guarantee the American Dream to all people."

I know we had some people here calling him a hypocrite for demanding Trump's returns when he hadn't released his, except for a small portion. I assume this will satisfy all of them.

Gotta love how CNN immediately tries to imply that the money from his book sales makes him a hypocrite and someone who's lost his credibility as a populist and with the working class as a consequence; I laughed.

Worthless Chris Mathews did the same thing on MSNBC. Played Bernie clips of him saying, "Millionaires and Billionairs!" That's it. Repeated a clip of him saying that as if it meant something at all.

Sanders is being upfront and transparent about his income and taxes paid, good for him. He is not my canidate but he is good to his word.

Despite his new found wealth, he still advocates taxing millionaires. I'd say he's the opposite of a hypocrite.

It appears Sanders is taxed at a high rate and is paying his fair share, I applaud him. And to those who criticize him for his book sale revenues, Sanders has stated he will not aplogize for having a successful book, nor should he!

And no, I am not a Sanders fan and probably will not vote for him in the primaries. Now if he wins the nomination that is a different kettle of fish.

Conservative News Network gotta look out for its plutocrats! :)

Big deal, bully for him. He trashed the very capitalistic ideas that made (his one foot in the grave) a millionaire.

Who cares about Bernie. Trump will mop the floor with him if Bernie ever becomes the dem front runner.

Bernie "Tax teh rich, but don't ask me to pay the tax I want rich people to pay" isn't a Hypocrite how again?

So please show where he said that, or where he wasn't willing to pay his fair share. Do you have something other than a straw man argument?

He already is of those currently in the running, and by a substantial margin at that.

Also, according to what polling/evidence would Trump 'mop the floor' with Bernie?

Try telling that to any of his critics in the mainstream media, whether MSNBC, CNN, or Fox.

America would never vote in a socialist POTUS. The dems are kissing their chances of winning goodbye if they nominate Bernie.

Still waiting on the supporting polling/facts; otherwise your opinion is noted.

"I consider paying more in taxes as my income rose to be both an obligation and an investment in our country"

Literally from the OP, and the article...

Did he only pay what he was legally obligated to pay, or did he pay his ‘fair share’?

Go ahead and depend on your polls. The last polls said that Hillary would win, and we know how that turned out.

The polls said she would win the popular vote, and she did; they said nothing about the EC. Moreover, I'm not simply asking for head to head popularity/opinion polls here: if there's any data you can link me that would convincingly demonstrate Trump crushing Bernie, I'm legitimately interested in knowing of it.

The only poll that mattered was the poll that initially showed HRC would lose to DJT but Bernie beat him. Then, all of a sudden, the polls changed when the DNC began to torpedo Bernie.

Bernie speaks to the actual workers of this country. His policies would benefit real laborers, not pay lip service to them while giving a huge greasy hand job to the donor class that vaulted this scumbag potus into his current position.

The billionaire wolf telling the sheep he gives a **** while shellacking them and enriching himself.

You have to be braindead to fall for his schemes.

I consider paying all my income in taxes. I guess that makes me better than Bernie in who "considers" things more. :lamo

The polls said she would win the election.
