Bernie Sanders Agrees to Debate Donald Trump

That would be interesting. Why would Trump agree, I wonder.

Looking at a billion dollar hurdle between himself and November, I'm sure he figured this was worth a good 3-6 weeks of free media coverage.

I would be very surprised if Trump went through with this. He'll back out like Hillary.

Not interested. The DNC needs to taught that sometimes, when you endeavour to put your thumb on the scale and try to pervert democracy to sate the interests of an elite, wealthy minority, it comes away burnt. The best lessons are always the hardest ones.

Too risky. Trump could become President and spark Civil War II.
Other than his most devout supporters, nobody wants a Trump Presidency.
Having Hillary as DNC nominee would ensure that Hillary and her supporters win and are happy.
Having Bernie as her running-mate would ensure party unity and appease the Sanders supporters.
And, most importantly, it would prevent them from voting for Trump.

This divisive 'holier-than-thou' attitude directing toward keeping one or the other off the ticket has to stop, lest Donald J. Trump becomes our last President.

Sabotaging your own party is a pretty stupid way to go about it. The only people who like Bernie are socialists and millenials because they want free stuff.

I think you're saying that just to troll. I don't want or need any free stuff and yet I still see room for improvement in our society. Not that your opinion matters in the slightest as you want nothing to do with democrats, but standing up for a progressive agenda and not simply caving to corporate-whore Hillary is not "sabotaging the party".

Seeing as how Hillary doesn't want to debate and believes she's got the nomination and election under wraps, I'm looking forward to seeing a real debate between Sanders and Trump.

It might be the smart thing to do but I would be REALLY surprised if Hillary does that. Once elected she won't be able to control him. Bernie puts the people and policies before the party. If Bernie doesn't like what Hillary is doing as President he won't keep it to himself. Unlike the Cabinet positions, the VP does not serve at the pleasure of the President.

This is low risk high reward type of maneuver by the Maverick Trump.

By debating Sanders he can embolden a candidate that has zero percent chance of winning the Democratic nomination and further cause deadlock for the DNC .

This debate can allow Trump to center himself with the moderates while Hillary continues get branded this corporate tool for Wall Street.

the chances tRump will actually debate Bernie is about the same that tRump will release his federal tax returns

Bernie would Bern him in a debate and tRump knows it

before this time tomorrow tRump will weasel out of his agreement to debate Bernie

No it wouldn't; Bernie as a running mate would merely serve to rob him of any real power, and it's unlikely he'd accept in the first place.

And I will take my chances; personally I believe that Trump is saying whatever he needs to in order to get elected and isn't nearly the apocalyptic doom that Hillary's fearmongers make him out to be.

It might be the smart thing to do but I would be REALLY surprised if Hillary does that.

And I am sure she realizes that if she does not, she will be risking a President Trump. I am not so sure if she would rather have Trump be President over Bernie being Vice President. I am quite sure she would prefer the latter.

I think she would prefer the latter as well. But she may feel confident she can beat Trump without Bernie. She could turn out to be wrong, but she may believe it sincerely. I am sure her campaign will be doing some serious polling and number crunching.

And then she will have to live with being responsible for empowering America's first dictator.
Because she couldn't pull her head out of her ****ing ass.

I'm surprised (but happy) that Trump agreed to this since I can't see how a debate with a candidate almost guaranteed at this point not to be the official nominee would help him in any way. Would Hillary agree next week to debate Ted Cruz? It's odd, but I'll definitely have a bowl of popcorn ready and "go away" written on my front door.

It gives Trump a high profile soapbox on which to pontificate. Basically, this is a free campaign ad... What I can't believe is Sanders agreeing to this. He's got nothing to gain, since Hillary is the Dem. nominee (not officially, but the simple truth is the Dem. Machine is running Hillary and no one else). The only thing I can think of is that Sanders has decided that he's going to run 3rd party and this gives him the same kind of national stage that Trump wants from this.

I can't see Sanders doing that. You could be right about the benefit Trump reaps from this.

Good point!! For Trump, anything that builds up Sanders is a positive for him. Trump's dream situation is for Sanders to run 3rd party and if this lends legitimacy to Sanders, then that dream comes even closer to a reality.

How very democratic, calling for the shut down of candidates whom you deem should no longer be running.
Bernie is out of the running as the Dem nominee because the voters in the party don't want him. If they did want him he would be be ahead in the delegate count but he isn't. I don't see how this can be any clearer to you.

Sabotaging your own party is a pretty stupid way to go about it.

I would submit that likely the majority of Sanders' supporters are not all that concerned about the Democratic Party. In fact, isn't it the establishment/Democratic Party that has sabotaged Democrats? Hence the historic rise of support for a candidate like Sanders.

The only people who like Bernie are socialists and millenials because they want free stuff.

That's incorrect on so many levels it isn't worth countering.

Is this your reason why the DNC should shut him down?

The bolded is truly a wild assumption.

It raises Sanders' profile and gives him and his movement more exposure. Sanders is all but discounted as nominee, but the more support and publicity he can gather, the more political leverage they will have.

Um what? Clinton is up ahead of Bernie by more than 300 pledged delegates, its all but over. The numbers dont lie. If you fail to see this, you are completely delusional.

Entertainment value: Through the roof.

On the other hand, I'd really hate to see either demagogue strengthened, and such show will probably boost them both.

No one gets the primary benefactor to this, should it happen. Neither one would attack the other and both would attack Clinton. They would elaborate on what policies they want and just give her hell the entire time. Its a win-win for both Sanders and Trump.

For debate content only .... I think Bernie Sanders is making a huge mistake.

Donald Trump is very familiar with "Numbers" and the "Selling Of Capitalism" .... It is second nature to him.

People vote with their pocketbooks, and thus no matter how much they might think that foreign policy is off track, it will be "The Economy Stupid".

Bernie might make big waves when discussing Free Trade and the like, but he is only talking about "Tinkering" around the edges, nothing in concrete. He is not talking "Cancellation" but rather some changes and we all know what "Change" brought in 2008.

Calm

You have a funny way of talking around what I say without addressing it. Shillary may be hiring....... you should look into it.
