Source [NYT | Italy: Premier Vows to Stay On]

Two days after Italy’s highest court deemed unconstitutional a law granting Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi immunity from prosecution, Mr. Berlusconi said he had no plans to step down. “I am the best prime minister ever,” he said at a news conference on Friday, Italian news media reported. “I am absolutely the politician most persecuted by prosecutors in the entire history of the world throughout the ages.” He said that he had spent “200 million euros on judges,” only to be corrected by associates, adding, “Excuse me, on lawyers.” Mr. Berlusconi’s Fininvest holding company was fined $1.1 billion last week for bribing judges in the 1990s. There are three cases pending against him concerning his business dealings.

I haven't been following the whole Berlusconi ordeal, but every sentence of this article is hilarious. Delusions of grandeur...check. Ridiculous sweeping statement...check. Freudian slip on the bribery charges....check. I had to look twice to make sure NYT didn't have a humor section when I read this

BTW - NYT requires registration to view some articles. If it does just [ame="http://www.google.com/search?q=Italy%3A+Premier+Vows+to+Stay+On&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:eek:fficial&client=firefox-a"]google the title[/ame] because NYT allows traffic from google to go through with no registration

Sadly for Italy, it is all true. He is truly a crazy.

He said that he had spent “200 million euros on judges, :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl

Hey he most likely did!... paying for hookers to go "visit" him and the judges.

To win the court cases more like. He claims to have been to 2,500 court hearings in his entire lifetime, and apparently he thinks that he is the most persecuted man in the history of the world. He is also the world greatest leader, too. Or so he says.

Maybe you have not been following the news about him.. some if not many of the cases against him involve corruption at the highest level and included in that are hookers.. just saying...

He's the pimp.

I dont see whats wrong with him having sex parties and screwing hookers. The guy is on viagra or he is just damn horny anyway, it doesnt make a difference. If he passes the right bills and manages the country the way it should be managed, even if it means sitting at his desk and ordering around his cabinet ministers all day while a woman pleasures him under the presidential desk, i couldnt care less.

Good for him! If i end up screwing as many women as he does when im his age id be proud.

Neither would I, unless he used such stuff to get where he is.. as in bribes or blackmail.. and that is part of the problem, since he has been under trial for corruption that included highly paid call girls.

Dubya liked him

The same could be said about anyone and in any walk of life.

If I were about to undergo heart surgery I wouldn't care about my surgeon's private life - as long as it didn't affect his work. Maybe a bad example kaya - but if Berlusconi has viagra-fueled sex parties etc in his private time that's fine - but not when he's supposed to be running the country.

Going back to the surgeon example - if my surgeon likes being pleasured often then that's fine - just as long as it's not when he's operating and especially not when operating on me!

From what I've read, that's how a lot of Italian men see him. How Italian women see him however may be another thing entirely.

Well i dont think PM's have actual set working hours so it could have been some time off. Either way, consider the impact the economic crises has had on larger economies even, like the UK for example, which is bloated with debt and a flagging economy by a PM that spent probably much less time off work than Berlusconi has and attended far less sex parties!

Im sure a great deal of italian women nonetheless see him as great fun and tireless in bed :2razz:

I'm betting that even if I was a woman, imagining G Brown at a sex party would be pretty impossible. he really would be the "spare prick" at the ball...

um-hum...

Not met many Italian women I bet? There's all sorts of stuff about the protest movement over there. The righties over here call them "bra-burning dykes" and the Guardian reading left call him a mysogenist.

All I can think about is those 70's judges who used to scold women for their clothes and attire and claim they were "begging for it."

He's a dirty old man - no more no less and he's happy (and able) to use his money to continue his adventures. I highly doubt any Italian woman would look twice if it weren't for his money.

I was referring to the ones he slept with :p

Obviously. Look at Hugh Heffner! Would your daily woman want to get with him? Highly doubt it. Unless shes in her 70's. We live in a materialistic world where some people, men and women alike, would bend down and take one if it means getting there hands on some money. It's sad, truly. But money talks.
