It seems Orange and Osceola counties may bear the brunt of DeSantis' decision to teach disney a lesson as to what they can and can't say. Heck all of the taxpayers of republican controlled flori-duh may take a hit.

My question, considering taxpayers will bear the brunt of this decision if it passes, do you think the voters were informed? Do you think the voters would approve such a thing if they were informed of the consequences? I can just see it, DeSantis telling his fellow floridians he's gonna' get disney and in the end the voters will be footing the bill for billions. Yeah, I think the average voter would say yes, how about you?

Only one taking a hit is Disney! To the tune of 200 million or so. New taxes on the way.

Oh, and a $2 Bn debt burden for Florida.

But that's okay, because it's good for America when bad things happen to Florida.
Sorry but the two billion part is not a part of their story. Yeah, they got their business sense from trump, two billion burden on the taxpayers to own liberal disney, it's a deal.

Disney wanted politics. Politics is thus.

Free speech means exactly that. You must tolerate speech you cannot stand to hear. For me, the only illegal speech is direct incitement. <>

:ROFLMAO:

Now, free speech has little to do with this (though I wonder about the terms of offered tax breaks. Contract? Not my area).

But it is a right winger trying to hurt a corporation because the corporation didn't adopt the right winger's stated viewpoints on a religiously bigoted manner. And you babble about "free speech" elsewhere. This is actually government acting, though.

Look, stuff is hard. I know I didn't say that you should not stop reading once you see an emoticon. But it does seem a liiiiiiiitle suspicious that you cut out the entire point from your quote of me, then ask what I mean. That seems pretty stupid.

I know I caught you in bullshit. I get it. But it really is hopelessly stupid to do what you did. I mean... it's all on the same thread page! Nobody is going to think the only thing I said to you was your edited-down bit.

Shameful, really. But Trumpists gonna Trumpist

Disney wanted politics in the sense that they wanted to continue to fund Republican candidates so long as Republicans let them do their thing without much hassle and without it biting them in the ass. What liberals did is turn a company from one that used to fund Republican candidates into one that fights them. I've said for years we should use our social power to force big businesses to fight Republicans politically because moron Republicans can't help themselves but escalate things to ridiculous proportions until they are calling Disney groomers and pedophiles. 😆 Dipshits. It's so easy to manipulate these clowns into turning on their own.

You lost me. It's not about free speech, but you complain about me babbling about free speech.

The only religious element is the lefts sacramental gender silliness.

What I don't understand is if Orange county is on the hook to deliver services why doesn't Disney have to pay? Doesn't everyone else in the county pay?

He's going to try to bully his way to the whitehouse. Let's see how it works out for him shall we?

If you have not caught on texas and florida are doing such policies for a reason, they are trying to push out cali oregon washington and new york liberals out who keep flooding the state because those liberal states were so great people keep fleeing in large numbers but demand the same policies that wrecked the places they fled from.

They are doing it to send a message this is not deep blue territory, if paying for transgendered kids legalized weed and unlimited abortions is your thing, then you aint from them there parts and need to go back the way you came.

I hated New York so much that I moved to Florida.
Why do you still live in Florida if you are so miserable, if Disantis is ruining the state and your way of life?
California is the place you should be. I heard the weather is great in California.

Great thread title, just let DeSantis take the primary.

😂😂🤣. More words of wisdom from the self proclaimed "socialist" who parrots right wing talking points about as well as any shill.

They are "doing such policies" to cater to their idiot base for votes. Has nothing to do with pushing anyone out, or "protecting children" or whatever, it's all about riling up the rubes for votes.

Florida has great weather, and is a nice state overall.

That it's fan by right wing fascists...well that's another story.

Walt Disney World paid $780.3 million in state and local taxes in 2021. Dissolving the district would mean the company could no longer finance improvements through municipal bonds, which carry tax advantages. It's unclear what that would mean for Disney's operating costs.10 hours ago

It never ceases to amaze me how stupid some of these highly educated folks can be. He may win the republican primary, like others of his ilk in theirs but put them next to sane people in the general election and see how the rest of america feels about them.

I'm old, I own my home with no mortgage, my little piece of heaven and unless DeSantis' hits me with a twenty five percent tax hike, nothing much my state government or federal government does is going to change my lifestyle.

Then how is the county going to take it in the shorts if Disney gets services from them? Won't Disney like every other citizen and business have to pay for those services?

Then you have not been paying attention to the honest facts.

Disney has been paying the shortfall in taxes and maintenance all these years.

There's a 2 billion dollar debt that Disney has been paying with revenues from the park.

Now the people of Florida are going to have to pay that shortfall and debt.

The last time I was in Florid there was FIVE separate taxes on hotels. There was FIVE separate taxes on vehicle rentals. Which resulted in the taxes being as much as the principle for the hotel and vehicle. Disney actually charges for parking in their lot. That's on top of the high prices to get into the park and spend the day. Do you really think that people are going to pay even more to go to Disneyworld when Disneyland is much cheaper?

The residents of Florida will have to pay that shortfall and debt or at least some of it.

Then there's all the legal fees of court challenges. If it passes the courts, there are the fees to do the actual change and set up the new system to pay for everything that Disney paid.

It's going to cost the people of Florida billions.

Read the whole article. It's very informative.
