Navy Secretary Ray Mabus and the cultural evisceration of the U.S. Navy

President Obama came into office in 2009 promising "transformation" and he has delivered on that promise. Over the past 7 1/2 years we've witnessed billion dollar deficits and the establishment of a highly politicized and inexorably failing health care system ("Obamacare"); the "weaponization" of government agencies (think, IRS, EPA, DOJ) to intimidate and attack his political opponents; the calculated and feckless decline of American power and influence throughout the world; relentless redistributionist policies; and the president's support (often with a wink and a nod) of thuggish (and sometimes violent) radical groups like "Occupy Wall Street" and "Black Lives Matter." As a result, America is "on edge" -- socially, racially, economically -- as it hasn't been for decades. Indeed, many have reached the sobering insight that America's best days may now be behind her.

Occupy Wall Street is a thing still?

Frankly, compared to the 1970s this is nothing.

Sure, Ray Mabus is an incompetent dork (served all of two years in Navy back in the early 1970s, and has been active in the Democratic Party ever since - for all intents and purposes, he's a civilian partisan shill for the Obama Administration, appointed to the position for that exact reason). However, I'm not seeing what this screed of an OP really has to do with that.

Don't forget the part about a flip flopping, New York City values, Clinton supporter running for the GOP nomination...and winning. Crazy times indeed.

I came to the conclusion that our best years were behind us about 15 years ago, before Obama took office. He is just another name and another face in a line of men put there by TPTB, advancing their interests.

It's not just the cultural evisceration of the U.S. Navy, it's all branches of the military.

Not knowing, not understanding and not caring to know or understand them or the warrior culture that these military branches build on, this administration's actions seem to be best cast as the cultural evisceration the article speaks of.

Hah-hah! Your "undisclosed" location didn't help you! You've been found, yes you have! And see over there to the east, just over the horizon? There's whole battalions of BLM and OWS thugs in their government-supplied armored personnel vehicles and black helicopters...and they're all coming for you!!!! And they're a-gonna take you captive, and they're going to turn their gay rays on you and your friends and turn you all gay, and then they'll make you love marijuana they'll force you to become Muslim and you'll all be Sharia-law-loving Weed-smoking Gay Muslims dancing to the the beat of the latest Liberace-inspired hip-hop!

Got a song made Just For You!

They want you, they want you
They want you as a new recruit

If you like adventure
Don't you wait to enter
The recruiting office fast
Don't you hesitate
There is no need to wait
They're signing up new seamen fast

In the navy
Yes, you can sail the seven seas
In the navy
Yes, you can put your mind at ease
In the navy
Come on now, people, make a stand
In the navy, in the navy
Can't you see we need a hand
In the navy
Come on, protect the mother land
In the navy
Come on and join your fellow man
In the navy
Come on people, and make a stand
In the navy, in the navy, in the navy (in the navy)

See? Even in 1979, Obama was pulling ALL the strings to turn the military - and especially the Navy - gay! Whoopee!!!!

Typical Left Wind malarky!

That account was sent to me by a 30 year retired Navy Seal, who is appalled at what is transpiring under a Marxist President.

Ya know, your sig line is absolute total BS.....none of those people are allowed to buy any guns....and neither the NRA or gun makers, contribute to law breakers, nor promote same.

So why do you post outright Lies?

If he were a 30-year retired SEAL, then he would have almost certainly BEEN to an actual Marxist regime or three...and he would have seen the huge freaking differences between those regimes and America.

But then, I forget - one can look at stuff with his own eyes all day long yet still not learn a damn thing. Do yourself a favor - go to an actual Marxist regime, live there for awhile, and then come back and tell me how Marxist America's supposedly becoming.

Mehhh...

There are plenty of examples, historical and contemporary, of dominant minority rule.

White people might become the minority in this country, but that doesn't mean that the deck isn't going to remain stacked in their favor faaaaaaaaaaaaar in to the future.

Dark people might get the numbers, but as long as they're all jam packed in to the same dozen Congressional districts white people will retain their stranglehold on power.

Thanks gerrymandering.

Oh, and give me some fries with that...

Interfaith, inter-racial marriage, rap music, etc. Its cultural which can't be stopped by "gerrymandering". I live in a suburban neighborhood and although my kids are biracial most of their friends are white. Lets just say the music they listen to is quite diverse.

In a hundred years it won't matter nearly as much as millions become multi racial. Its funny my congressional district has elected a 60's liberal musician, a conservative, a tea party conservative and now a liberal gay man. We embrace diversity. LOL!

Next time you ride into a war zone to face the barbarians, crank this up on your stereo:

Our government and society is far more fascist than it is Marxist. I don't see Marxism at all, but I do see many signs of fascism.

Our government and society is far more fascist than it is Marxist. I don't see Marxism at all, but I do see many signs of fascism.

Definition of fascism: "a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition"

Do we have a centralized autocratic government? That could be argued till the cows come home...but remember, none of our politicians (unless you count SCOTUS as such) are lifetime appointments - they have to be reelected. Witness the power in Congress going from Dem to GOP in 1992 (or was it '96?), then solidly GOP until 2006, then mostly Dem from 2006 to 2010, now GOP...and the Senate is very much in play now in 2016. A fascist nation has - as far as I can tell - only one effective party...and belonging to any other party can be hazardous to one's health.

Do we have a dictatorial leader? Hmph. If this were the case, Dubya would still be in the White House thanks to Executive Order #51...and there's more than a few on the fringe of the Right who swear up and down that Obama will use the same thing to stay in the White House once his term is up. But it ain't gonna happen - the people wouldn't stand for any president doing so, no matter how popular that president may be.

Do we have severe economic and social regimentation? This is laughable. There's a grand, yawning gulf between regimentation ("do what we say, how we say, when we say" e.g. China and North Korea) and regulation ("As long as you stay within the law and abide by safety regulations, you can do pretty much what you want").

Do we have forcible suppression of opposition? Really? If this were the case, a lot of GOP congressmen would have found themselves in the gulag after slamming Obama with the greatest degree of political opposition faced by any president since the Civil War.

So..."fascist"? No. Plutocracy or oligarchy...maybe, to some extent. But not fascism.

I am using Mussolini's general equation that fascism is corporatism.

In that sense of the word, we are corporatists, fascists, in this country. That is, funds from the public treasury are spent to benefit corporations. Policy and law is written by, and for the benefit of corporatists. Corporations write the laws, and in accordance with Citizens United standard, corporations are the same as individuals, but somehow a bit more special and in control of how the government operates.

In that sense, we have been trending fascist for years, and reached the zenith just a few years back.

That's the problem. Your using Mussolini as your source. It's amazing you haven't been decisively defeated invading the territory of a smaller neighbor yet:lamo

More like Stormfront mag, allow me to quote-

"... the US military signifies the final frontier-- the last bastion of (white heterosexual) alpha male institutional domination..."

It also claims 90% of women in the military don't want to be in combat arms- my experience is over 90% of men don't want to either- there has never been a time where combat arms had a wait list for enlistment/transfer... ;)

The entire 'article' is white male self stroking and ridiculous propaganda. I'd opine the article tells us far more about those who re-post it than reality... :peace

Ahhh yes the 'warrior culture' of the military... gotta love that trite expression. The 'warrior culture' has been eroded to a hollow expression long before President Obama was born. Fact is most of the 'warriors' are civilians who know how to salute- doing civilian work and having civilian hours. But we'll butch this pack of REMFs up with silly slogans... :peace

I imagine that your dismissal of this is substantiated by some sort of citation or personal experience?

I've met a number of people who have served, and based on my interaction with them, the warrior culture is alive and well, and frankly needs to remain and be strengthened, IMHO.

I was a grunt, I interact with dozens of soldiers who are nothing more than 9-5 civilians in 'battle uniforms'... the 'warrior culture' is so much puffery in their world. Posturing while doing civilian work in settings more like corporate America than sword and shield. So few are actually combat arms these days, have any clue what it's like to be dirty, hungry, tired, achy, scared and brave.

and they don't want to get that clue... :peace
