Since this is the daily mail I will take everything they say with a ton of salt. I mean really, you can't trust them to report on celebrity news, let alone real news.
Is the claim that he did convert or is it that he may have converted? Is there any actual evidence to back up this claim?
Incidentally, the Daily Mail is mainstream media. It's corrupt tabloid trash but it is, sadly, still mainstream.
Heya RM.....Yeah I thought about it but since it was Cast over Saudi Television and put in their news. I thought I would put it up. Did you watch the video?
No, I didn't watch the video. But just because a person is FBI, ex-FBI even, doesn't mean he is an authority in the matter. There could be a ton of ulterior motives for him to say what he said. In fact, it may be because he is ex-FBI that he is making these allegations.
Look. The dailymail can never be trusted to be a proper source unless collaborated with other credible sources. Not neccesarily from the mainstream media since they are not really what qualify to be credible sources, but yeah, at least something else. But I don't know. It could be true. It could be, and it is a concern, but it depends on the character of the man, not on the religion he is affiliated with. Maybe he needed a change in his life. The guy did say that this happened in the 90s so, yeah. It could have been anything.
At one point there was the belief that Obama is a muslim. And next month he announced he will make another trip to the Middle East. Last time he did that, he bowed to the Saudi Prince like a vassal and that only accelerated the rumours of him being a Muslim. But he never acted in a way that would put him at odds with his office and his oath even if he were a muslim.
Not all muslims are religious either. So who knows. But this needs more background, more info, it is not really news worthy.
That's not evidence, that's just the claim. You've also not said whether the claim is that he has converted or could have converted (I can't watch the video as I have no working sound here). I see no reason to give an unsupported claim by one individual (whoever he is) any serious credit.Do you mean other than the former FBI agent saying this? I haven't seen any response by the Saud.
Don't really care what religion is in the discussion but someone who would change religions on the spot might change other allegiances just as suddenly. I think the government likes it's agents to be a bit more predictable.

Well my only question would be why would someone from the FBI lie in the first place? Or make up an allegation knowing that it could be confirmed quite easily. As not all that go to Mecca are Saudi.
I find it surprising that you place your trust in a former agent of the government. I thought you considered all of our government liars?
It's a poor allegation, one that is desperate. Furthermore, it is foolish for us to deny someone right of appointment because they are a Muslim.
Article VI, paragraph 3, and states that:
The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.
The usual reasons I'd suspect - money or power (politics). Of course it's perfectly possible that he's not lying but has been misled or has misinterpreted the facts. Maybe he's not even ex-FBI and the whole this is a fraud. I honestly have no idea. The claims could be entirely true of course, but the fact remains that zero evidence appears to have been presented and unless some is, why should be give such a claim any credit?Well my only question would be why would someone from the FBI lie in the first place? Such allegations can't be confirmed or, more significantly, disproved easily. You only need to look at the whole Obama isn't American/is a Muslim debacle to see that and even when such things can be proven wrong to reasonable certainty, many more people tend to hear the accusations that the disproving so the mud sticks.
By the way, I am still unable to view the video and you've still not established what you believe the actual accusation was. I think the difference between "is" and "could be" is hugely significant.
Depends on what kind of Muslim they are. It isn't like I would want one of those Snake-Handler Baptists in charge of anything either.

As much as this might concern me a bit, as a constitutionalist, I have to say that he has a right to be a muslim and serve in the US Government.
