Under President Obama:

1. We pay less of a percentage of our personal income in federal taxes since any time since 1950.

2. Taxes are lower for the middle class now than when he took office.

3. Politifact says that Obama's statement that "taxes are lower now for CEO's and hedge fund managers than at any time since the 1950's" is 'mostly true'.

4. The Dow Jones has more than doubled since its nadir a couple months after President Obama took office.

5. President Obama got 'Obamacare' passed - and it was a REPUBLICAN idea pushed by the Heritage Foundation and Newt Gingrich until somebody with a (D) behind his name was able to get it passed.

6. President Obama will likely get immigration reform passed - and in a form that is much more conservative than Reagan's amnesty.

7. President Obama has deported more immigrants than any other president.

8. Bush gave up on Osama bin Laden - President Obama didn't.

9. AND Obama was able to get almost all of the above done despite the fact that he's had to deal with the most obstructive Congress since the Civil War!

If only Barack Hussein Obama had an (R) behind his name, he'd be called the Second Coming of Reagan by our nation's Republicans!

So, are you bragging or complaining?

I guess the implied question of the OP is why the loony tea party types claim Obama is a Marxist-Socialist avatar of collectivism. The answer is, they're loony. Such is the state of modern conservatism. It's totally unhinged and out of touch with reality.

Indeed let's watch . . .

Just think how good it would have been without him and his added rules and regulations.

5. President Obama got 'Obamacare' passed - and it was a REPUBLICAN idea pushed by the Heritage Foundation and Newt Gingrich until somebody with a (D) behind his name was able to get it passed.

Doesn't matter who's idea it was...it's still a bad idea...never should have been rammed down the Public's throat...and will ultimately make things worse.

6. President Obama will likely get immigration reform passed - and in a form that is much more conservative than Reagan's amnesty.

We don't need immigration reform...we just need to enforce existing immigration laws. Just another example of big government doing stupid stuff.

7. President Obama has deported more immigrants than any other president.

So what? He's also let free more than any other President.

8. Bush gave up on Osama bin Laden - President Obama didn't.

Obama got lucky. He was the one in Office when bin Laden was killed. He can hardly take any credit.

9. AND Obama was able to get almost all of the above done despite the fact that he's had to deal with the most obstructive Congress since the Civil War!

It is thanks to the Republicans in Congress that Obama has not been able to do even more damage than he has. We should be thanking them.

If only Barack Hussein Obama had an (R) behind his name, he'd be called the Second Coming of Reagan by our nation's Republicans!

With Obama's agenda from day one, there is absolutely no way he can ever be confused with a Republican...a conservative...or even with being a good President. The past 4 1/2 years have proven that.

Comparing anything to GDP is laughable. GDP is sold as the total of all value-added transactions in a year, but that's not the case at all. For one, its filled with imputed transactions. Own your own home free and clear? The government adds to GDP what it determines to be the amount you'd be paying yourself for rent to live there. Get free checking from your bank? The free checking is imputed to have value because if it weren't free, you'd have to pay for it. That value is pulled from the never-regions and added to GDP. Those two things alone add trillions to the reported GDP. That's just the tip of the proverbial iceberg.

There's hedonistic measurements in play, too. Since the computers we use today are faster and have more features, government says they add more to economic output. A computer bought for $1000 suddenly has a value of $1100, and that $1100 is added to the GDP (illustration only, I don't know the actual imputed value). Of course, when making inflation measurements, the hedonistic adjustment lowers the computers price. Prices are determined by which outcome looks the best, and computers are not the only item to be treated this way. These adjustments also add trillions to GDP.

Then the GDP deflator rides into town. This is a measure of inflation subtracted from GDP to arrive at the reported real GDP. It's quite common for falsely reduced inflation numbers to be subtracted. In general, GDP is over-reported about 1% for every 1% that inflation is under-reported. GDP represents spending, not production, and is filled with assumptions with no accurate way to compare one periods production over another. Statistics like GDP just give an excuse for politicians to intervene in the economy, and give false credence to statements like "debt to GDP is low" or "income taxes as a percentage of GDP are low", or "lower than..."

Then there's government spending, included in GDP figures, and government borrowing, not subtracted from GDP figures. The deception continues...

Um, where did I mention GDP at all? I mentioned the GOP, but not the GDP. Now I could have mentioned the deficit which is falling faster than at any time since the years immediately after WWII...but I figure y'all wouldn't like to hear that either. It's like there's a pattern: Hoover breaks the economy, FDR fixes it (even though the Dixiecrats forced us into a double-dip of the Depression); Reagan breaks the economy, Bush 41 helps a little bit, and Clinton fixes it; Bush 43 breaks the economy, and Obama goes a long way towards fixing it even though he's faced with the most obstructionist Congress since the Civil War.

Yes, especially if you ignore the numbers, at how much the economy has IMPROVED since Your Boy Dubya broke it.

Amen! It's as Bob Dole pointed out - Reagan would be tarred-and-feathered as a left-wing liberal socialist and ridden out of town on a rail if he tried to run in today's Republican party.

sigh...

Rhetoric typical of liberals/progressives (it's so damned hard to tell you guys apart anymore). Blame one guy for something that took decades to unfold...just because it suits your political hackery.

So it goes.

btw, you can trot out all the slick, convoluted numbers you want...doesn't negate the fact that there are a whole lot of people who would disagree with you on how much the economy has "improved".

So when Obama allowed the Bush Tax Cuts to expire, we got a tax cut?

Yawn

It's pretty bad when all a liberal can crow about related to their messiah is that he does a fairly convincing act of being what a liberal thinks a conservative is. Delusion is a wonderful substitute for painful disappointment, isn't it?

Um, your first talking point is based entirely on GDP. You provided the link, did you bother to read it?

This doesn't seem to be the correct forum for this partisanship.

Am I reading the OP correctly? The left doesn't want the president anymore and they are trying to pawn him off on the right?

Burden of proof is on the one who made the claim that he gave up. Last I checked we were fighting still on the day Bush left office.

Google - Did Bush give up on Bin Laden and see what comes up. There is your proof!

Also,

My taxes actually went up this year, higher than the Bush years, hmm....

See my name? It's "Contrarian". I chose that because I'm a white male, strong Christian, retired Navy, who grew up a (racist) strong conservative in the Mississippi Delta. Demographically speaking, I should be at least as conservative as Bill O'Reilly. But I saw things in my Naval career, in my travels overseas that forced me to unlearn my racism and my conservatism, and now I'm a proud liberal.

But that doesn't mean I forgot what it was like being conservative, or how my fellow conservatives thought.

So...yeah, I do understand conservatives.

Um, yes I did. Did you? Here it is again, for your edification:

"We pay less of a percentage of our personal income in federal taxes since any time since 1950."

Sorry, but there's nothing in that sentence that in any way refers to the GDP.
