You ask an irrelevent question, you get an irrelevant answer. Im still waiting for you to explain how producing more oil will make prices go up.
Except supply isnt shrinking. The world produces more oil than ever before. The proven reserves of oil are greater than ever before. So, supply is increasing, demand is increasing faster. Logically, increasing supply faster would stablize prices.
I never claimed it would, demand out stripping supply of cheap oil is what causes prices to go up. We passed that point in the US in 1971, and according to the US military, we may be reaching that point on the world level possibly as soon as 2015.
Your kidding right? Do you know where oil comes from? There is not an infinite amount able to be drilled. Eventually it will run dry. That is not a theory that is fact buddy. The only thing that additional pumping tells us is that we are depleting that resource faster.
So did we pass that point in 1971 or are we reaching that point in 2015? Either way, the solution is still more oil. I have yet to hear a reason why not.
For the last decade my milage has been more than double that of the average citizen, so I'm way ahead of you. And I built my passive solar house in 1984.
What have you done?
I'm conservative, I don't have to prove anything.
The US passed that point in 1971, and the US military has warned that the world could reach that point possibly as soon as 2015.
What part of the fact don't you get that the world demand for cheap oil is close to outstripping the world stripping the world supply?
We have the highest oil production in a decade and we still can't meet but half our own demand for cheap oil, how could we possibly increase our supply of cheap oil to satisfy the increased demand by the rest of the world?
And you're doing a damn fine job at it!!! :applaud
Why would I forget that?Apparently you forgot that the cooperative establishment wants to drill baby drill Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
Haven't I conserved enough? And I'm sure that all those that just care about themselves with no thought to what is sustainable will vote exactly the way you do.
Maybe we should concentrate on our own problems first. Maybe drill twice as much?
Haven't I conserved enough?
What's the difference between a tax cut and a tax credit? I thought Conservatives liked those?
This is easy, a tax cut is a cut in the actual tax rate that is applied to all persons or businesses. Reguardless of spending.
A tax credit means that if you spend money, in the right area, on the right thing. At the end of the year you can claim it as a credit toward taxes paid.

For practical purposes it is not running out. That IS a fact. We are discovering new oil faster than we consume it. The only limit is that we arent allowed to access it by the federal govt.
What practical reasons are you looking for? There is a limited supply. Consuming all today would be irresponsible. The world needs more affordable energy. Rather than depending on oil, we could be using renewable resources that are far cleaner for the environment. If oil ran out today, the world would be screwed. And your mindset is what's going to cause it to happen.
Oil wont run out today, or any practical timeframe. And nothing is stopping YOU from using whatever renewable energy you want to use. Why cant YOU go use it and leave us petrol users alone?
what is practical to you? During your lifetime? 5 years? 10 years? Explain that to me
100 years. But Im not sure how its relavent to my argument of liberty. My having access to oil that the govt currently restricts access to has little effect on you. You can still use all the solar power you want. So you do your thing, and Ill do my thing, and we'll all live happily together. Thats the whole point of the USA anyway.
Even if the government lifted ever restriction on domestic drilling tomorrow, it wouldn't change the price of gas very much, and what little change there would be would come years down the road.
The part where its a fact. Supply is 98% of demand. Reserves are 100x demand. Those are actual facts. There is plenty of oil in the world, and plenty in the US if the fed would allow it.

All the more reason to do it now. What effect would less supply have on gas prices?
