Libertarians of all streaks and stripes should be unanimous on this issue. I had the idea Texas was further along to the extreme than other states. A big tax is going to be lost, police are going to be distracted, and small mom and pop shops are going bottom up. All happening even though nobody noticed five years ago when .03 delta 9 etc was legalized in Texas.

Why does he care about a bunch of post neo hippies?

It's like a campaign stunt without a campaign. So that's not it, but Cinco de Mayo became a beer holiday perfectly midway between the annual slump in sales after St. Patrick's Day and the 4th of July. Maybe by the same reason he needs to make a splash during the slump in the attention he's getting. My last guess is he thinks fundamentalists can now sleep well knowing dem damn libbles ain't gone be smokin no mo Mary G Wanna and the cash crop it's become is no more.

I expect Abbott will sign it this week.
 
Cannabis is a schedule one drug after all, coke on the other hand is a schedule two drug. I guess Abbott would rather have people doing coke, it's much safer.

I will say, THC should not be allowed in any form except smoke able.
If you need a gummy, get it in a pill with dictors prescription not something that looks like a kid's candy. Control it's distribution.

How does my consumption of edibles concern you in the slightest bit? Why can't you just mind your own business.

This is yet another reason to hate democracy. It gives someone like you the power to sick the state on someone like me, even though I'm not harming anyone.

They are too attractive to kids.
Get a doctors prescription that do not look like a kids candy. Simple. No restrictions at all. Just enforced responsibly.

You remind me of a tradition forty years ago. We would go a to a certain park ya know , in the area and ya know, we would see a big sign coming in that said "No alcohol". So we asked everyone in the car if they had a beer. We all said "no" and so we lit one up.

In other news, Farmers across the state grossed millions last year and the end product retail sales generated enough revenue to buy every public school student in Texas a laptop, but they would rather take the W after they passed the private school voucher law.

I've repeated endlessly here that I think that pot should be legalized federally. My opinion hasn't changed.

If you can't control your kids, that shouldn't infringe on my rights.

I see what you're saying because it would prevent kids under 12 or so who wouldn't realize what was in those gummy bears. Currently underage teens who can arrange to buy these thc products can conceal them more easily. That's a reasonable bargaining chip when reconciliation of the bill comes up, but they didn't do that in Texas. I'm saying I don't completely agree, but you're not wrong, but they're wrong.

I don't think it's crazy to stipulate that in a law. But I still wouldn't vote for this or any of their dumb anti libertarian laws. They say they're hands off petroleum and energy but they have a million rules for school districts. You must wear a seatbelt in a car but on a motorcycle you don't need a helmet! This is Texas!

A problem with prescriptions,
The doctor's prescription has been bypassed in 22 other states. I would have to lie to my doctor to get pain relief medicine. I would rather visit my buddy.

Although, my guess would be that my MD would be super suspicious if I came in all the sudden saying my back hurts and I wish I had Oxywhatever. But he would laugh if I told him it was for buds. Lol

The law won't take effect until September so I'll evaluate short term purchases differently.

We process our pot into pot butter and baked edibles with it. No distribution involved. Beyond sending our son pot shortbread cookies now and then.
Growing your own pot is a basic right, like making your own wine and beer. And it's nobody else's business.
 

Illinois is not a "red" state by any means. Illinois has exactly the same policy concerning seat belts and motorcycle helmets.

If you leave your edibles in a place where your young kids can get to them, you're an idiot. You are making it sound like it's a pandemic of kids eating THC edibles.
 
Texas is also a leader in solar energy and the government of Texas wants to do away with that also. Stupid and stupid. Let's hurt our own constituents.
 
It is not my kids I worry about.

As with guns, it is the gun owners kids we all need worry about.

Just an FYI, Libertarian is the worst possible philosophy to peddle. I was a Libertarian out of college. Sounds good.

Then I learned how the world really worked.

May i suggest focusing on your own children's needs. Though I give kudos for your generous concern for children other than your own, I certainly wouldn't want you suffering feelings of anxiety or low self esteem whilst neglecting the needs of your own kids.

Wouldnt stop it. I grew pot when it was illegal and when I didn't use it, just for the sake of defying a bad law.
When the right is in charge, if you shouldn't do something they make a law that you cant. If you should do something, they make a law that you must.
