My personal thoughts are that any person or organization that offers Scholarships based on colour, race, creed should also offer them to an equal extent to other races, colored people, creeds, this would be 100% fair and balanced.

So, what are your thoughts, is it right that Scholarships be awarded based solely on the colour of your skin?

the link doesnt work.

what award?

and i disagree that scholarships should be based on race. scholarships should be based on academic or athletic acomplishment. grants should be based on economic need.

I kind of have mixed feelings. I think that scholarships should be based on merit and not race, creed, religion, sexual orientation or the like. However, I also feel like private clubs and organizations that recieve no public moneys should be able to give money to whomever they like. For example, if the Alaskan Chinese Hockey Players League, which is supported by solely by private donation, wants to give money only to Mandarin speaking midget goalies, then by all means, they should be allowed. The minute they accept government support or grants, that changes and there should be an open application of the scholarship based on non-biased or merit driven criteria.

Regretfully the story has been removed from whence I saw it.
However, it was about Boston University offering Scholarships worth up to $250 I believe, but only to people who were a minimum of 25% Caucasian descent.

the second link worked for me. its a good article. i wonder whether it will change anything?

Midget Mandarin Goalies...a mental image to make you ROFL...

A serious question though about your "qualifications" to be able to give "private" money wherever you wish...

What if that Alaskan Chinese Hocky League plays it's games on rinks built by public funds? There are very few truly private baseball or football stadiums, basketball or hocky arenas, etc.

Yet another reason to get back to paying attention to limited government that only does what the constitution says it should, ala the 10th amendment...then there wouldn't be that kind of issue. Governments aren't supposed to use tax money to build entertainment venues.
