Austria's highest court has annulled the result of the presidential election narrowly lost by the candidate of the far-right Freedom Party.
The party had challenged the result, saying that postal votes had been illegally and improperly handled.
The Freedom Party candidate, Norbert Hofer, lost the election to the former leader of the Greens, Alexander Van der Bellen, by just 30,863 votes or less than one percentage point.
The election will now be re-run.

That was, what most thought. Of course, this might mean very little, but there were breaches of the law found. I am pretty sure it would have been hushed, had Brexit not occurred. But the main focus seems to be not to do anything that endangers legitimacy any further.

Curious why you think Brexit would point the decision in the direction it did. Surely mopping up uncertainty would be the way to go in the proposed scenario?

When rational appraisal takes 2nd place to resentment, conclusions thus drawn become at least silly.;)
