Here come the Aussies. Ready to give ISIL a shout out from Down Unda!



Australian military aircraft will fly guns and ammunition into Iraq to help fight Islamic State militants, Australia's prime minister said on Sunday. The United States government has requested that Australia help to transport stores of military equipment, including arms and munitions, as part of a multi-nation effort," Prime Minister Tony Abbott said in a statement. "Royal Australian Air Force C-130 Hercules and C-17 Globemaster aircraft will join aircraft from other nations including Canada, Italy, France, the United Kingdom and the United States to conduct this important task," Abbott added.

The Australian government has said it is open to the prospect of launching air strikes against Islamic State militant targets, subject to invitations from the U.S. and Iraq governments. Australia estimates 60 of its citizens are fighting for the Islamic State group and another al-Qaida offshoot Jabhat al-Nursa, also known as the Nusra Front in Iraq and Syria. Another 15 Australian fighters had been killed, including two young suicide bombers.....snip~

Most of those weapons will probably end up in the hands of ISIS. Very foolish move by the Aussies.

Mornin' Pos. :2wave: More importantly.....is the Aussies willingness to bomb the hell out of these terrorists. Then let the Brits and others keep on with their own. Even Canada wants to get in on the action.

They're not likely to be used against us, and it gives our PM the warm fuzzies to be doing something with the Americans.

I don't know it as fact but it seems that the Canucks, Aussies, and often the lion hearted Kiwis do what they can to stand with us; even more than the Brits. God luv'm.

Our less than stellar administration exhibits an amazing lack of geo-political awareness and it does not bode well. That self aggrandizing leadership may may be intellectually keen but that is a poor substitute for world wise.

It's nearly impossible to trust our leadership but we should be thankful a handful of countries are still 'hanging in there'.

There were more countries than that fighting Al Qaeda and guess what, they are still around. Western military intervention is not the answer.

Not really.....who else has really been fighting Al Qaida in several different countries.

If there isn't any Western military intervention.....the problem will not be handled.

Military interventions invite more attacks against the west and enables more terrorist recruitment so no, its counter-productive.

The alternative argument is they will end up bringing it to the West anyway.....and in doing so they will use their religion as the excuse.

Successful military interventions decimate the enemy and preclude any possibility of counterattack - hopefully for at least a generation. "Proportional" interventions simply guarantee endless war. No intervention invites our destruction, which is the stated goal of ISIS.

That argument is a myth perpetuated by neocons and warmongers. Almost every terrorist attack can be traced back to a cause due to either a military occupation or support for a regime that has militarily occupied a region in the ME.

Bzzt. ISIS only declared war against the US after we bombed them.
 


That was the old style of thinking.....until there was a Caliphate in place and all different types of people that support it. Now it has to do with some wanting to impose their way of life upon all others. Time is all they need.

Really? Huh. Then the stated goal of the Caliphate isn't a world wide thing. Wonderful. They'll win us over with roses, chocolate, and just a couple of beheadings.

Islamists arent commies, they are not after a worldwide empire, not even Bin Laden wanted to conquer the world. You need better sources.

I would go with what the Maps of ISIS.....and what they have under their control and their operations. So that one first.

ISIS has no government in place or industry. So how are they an all-encompassing Caliphate again?

Got plenty of sources, including radical Islam itself. They maintain their goal is a worldwide caliphate. It's not something I dreamed up. I recommend you read the actual documents the extremists have produced which are represented on the web through many, many sources. Take your pick.

What do you mean they have no government in Place.....they are issuing passports, they have leadership and go thru the Shura council.

Geeze. There are two ways to include industry in a portfolio: 1) Do it yourself; or, 2) Take it from someone else who's developed it. ISIS is profitting daily from their oil enterprise - an industry - which they took from the Iraqis. Whether or not ISIS has the technical ability to run such complexes long term remains to be seen, but for now they realize the benefit of millions in income daily. This may be more than sufficient for their short term goals. Here's a thought: Google "Worldwide Caliphate" and see what you come up with.
