He has a valid green card and is married to a US citizen. He went to his home country of Gambia for the first time in 20 years and was detained coming back into the country.

He did plead guilty to criminal trespassing in 2003 (case resolved) and had a 2009 marijuana charge dropped. So he was detained as the latter was flagged in the system.

He was released later that day, but it tells you that if you aren't a citizen, you're not welcome here. Green card, student visa, asylum application pending, Dreamer, etc., any one of you can be harassed, detained, deported, or sent to an El Salvadoran prison.




Before he was released:

 
one has to wonder how many fewer people will travel to the US for the World Cup because of this.

Lots and lots of tourism revenue is going to be lost because people won’t even want to risk being detained or worse due to incompetent leadership here

We can't turn our minds and our backs on these violations. "Loser issues" they may be, but we all know that catering to bullies and thugs tends to make them bolder. They go on to commit more and worse violations.

Yes, scaring away tourists by randomly detaining them and deporting them for laughable reasons is obviously not an issue that Americans should care about.

Tourism to the US will take a hit and it generates a lot of money for the US.

They should care about it.

It is a winning issue for the GOP.
Especially making a big deal about such a trite issue.

It is not a winning argument which is what i care about.
Americans are idiots, their view is "so what" if foreign people don't come here.
Just like they don't understand the horrific impact of tarrifs.

What they understand are trans are out to get our kids and it must be stopped.
What they understand is brown people are voting and taking their jobs. (Mormons)

Everyone should be checked before they are allowed into the country. I travel, I go through this all over. The U.S. under Biden became an open door to anybody who wanted in, legally or illegally. The Biden administration made it possible for murderers, rapists, child traffickers, drug dealers, gang members to enter the country illegally and sometime legally, CVHN program and the CBPone app, made this possible and we took in millions of illegals and 100's of thousands of hardened criminals. The result has been men, women, children murdered and brutalized by the people Joe Biden allowed and encouraged to come into the country.
Now we are trying to clean it up and the process is not easy nor is it going to comfortable for some, and it shouldn't be.
