Atheist Chaplains?

They wouldn't actually be called chaplains, which is why Fox news put that word in quotation marks.
They may need/want someone to talk to without the religious aspect.

Not what the article says:

The Armed Forces has counselors of all kinds, including psychologists and psychiatrists. While calling a newly created post something else -- like a counselor -- might sit fine with the military, it doesn't satisfy those who specifically want a non-faith chaplain established.

Alot of what a chaplain does in the military is not directly related to religion. They in fact serve a crucial role in essentially being there to support the troops mentally and emotionally. As an atheist, I have nothing but high regards for military chaplains and the good work they do in the military.

And I kinda miss the Catholic chaplain on the Eisenhower who would close the evening prayer on the 1MC each night with "...and all of Ike says goodnight". That was somehow comforting in a weird way.

Wouldn't that person be called a "psychologist" or "psychiatrist"?

Not what the article says:

Here is your problem. Faux news alters things to fit their narrative. That is why they have chosen the term chaplain because it really does come across as silly. Atheists would just call it a counselor and be done with that, but that won't get people riled up so faux makes stuff up.

A definite problem is that the military Tables of Organization only allow a finite number of Chaplins.

If there are now going to be atheist "Chaplins" then the number of religion affiliated Chaplins will be reduced so that the total number remains the same. It is a zero sum game.

No because faux makes things up and then you get into silly discussions about atheist chaplains which is not something an atheist would push for. Atheists do not look for chaplains, priests, imams, rabbis, shrine maidens, nuns, pastors, spirit guides, shamans, witch doctors, or any other crazy crap faux news says they do for the sake of ridiculing them. It is an absurd claim from a bunch of conservative idiots who hate atheists and want to make fun of them. If an atheist wanted advice on some life aspect they would ask a counselor, advisor, scientist, doctor, teacher, parent, sibling, friend, or old drunk guy on the street. Non-religious, get it?

Atheism has become a sort of cult. It is, for many, the religion of non-religion. Richard Dawkins is their unofficial high priest. It's amazing how much time and energy cult atheists spend trying to convert people to their religion of non-religion.

Who are its cult leaders? Where are these cults congregating? Are Atheists a cult, anywhere but in your imagination? If so, where?

Here is your problem. Everything that you disagree with is not something made up by Fox News.

Then perhaps you will believe it when it comes from the Liberal New York Times:

Your bias is showing..... :alert

Didn't I say "Richard Dawkins" is the high priest? I kept it short and sweet and you still couldn't comprehend it?

How can it be a religion of non-religion? That is not being a religion because it is non-religious. Atheists do not have high priests. they do have something called a scientist. You do not have to convert people to science because it exists whether or not you know it or believe in it. You may not believe in or know about gravity, but if someone drops a rock on your head it hurts. Religion is a little different as you have to know about it to practice it. If you do not know about it it really stops existing.

They already have 'counselors' in the military. Kinda makes your position look more idiotic than the insistence on dragging the Fox News boogieman into every argument.

The lack of imagination show by religious sheeple is stunning. they can only conceptualise in religious terms, even when insulting the non-religious.
