Atheist becomes a Christian and his reason may surprise you!

Duh. The blue Engineers brought it to our planet. Didn't you watch Prometheus? Sure some apostles have their opinion but let's face it, if you're looking for truth, you're looking for Ridley Scott.'
No, it's due to the Preservers, which seeded many worlds. If you want facts, look to Star Trek. ;)
I got bitten by a spider in second grade, and a bandaid and ointment brought me comfort.
I'll take medical science over dogma any day myself.

I nearly died of Pneumonia when I was in second grade and GOD brought me comfort.
I've always said religious belief is just an emotional comfort mechanism.

The Bible supports none of that false doctrine...
So I don't have to buy my slaves from neighboring towns? Thank goodness. It was becoming quite a bother to travel such a long distance to get my slaves.

David merely meant that he would die some day, as well...David knew what the Bible says about death...

"All are going to the same place.+ They all come from the dust,+ and they all are returning to the dust." Ecclesiastes 3:20

"David, on the one hand, rendered service to God in his own generation, fell asleep in death, was laid with his forefathers, and did see corruption." Acts 13:36

And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

Yes... That constant threat of eternal damnation certainly does keep those pews full on Sundays. What an undying unconditional love your God has for you.
We don't have pews and we fear no eternal damnation...

What is better to preying on people's fears and gullibility than religion?

For now, they are still sleeping...until the resurrection on the last day...

Sounds like the plot to a zombie movie.

You fear no eternal damnation because of your faith. Correct?
Wrong...I serve because I love Jehovah and want to please Him...if I didn't, I would live my life and die...eternally...not burn eternally...

Only people that exist sleep.
Jesus likened death to sleep because he knows the time will come for all those in the memorial tombs to come out...

But that doesn't mean that they ever cease to exist in the meantime.

You want to please someone who thinks slavery is okay and that sometimes it’s morally good to stab children to death?

Who says? How do you know? King David said that when he died, he would go to be with his love child that died as an infant. I assume David would eventually go to Paradise.

2 Samuel 12:16-23

English Standard Version

16 David therefore sought God on behalf of the child. And David fasted and went in and lay all night on the ground. 17 And the elders of his house stood beside him, to raise him from the ground, but he would not, nor did he eat food with them. 18 On the seventh day the child died. And the servants of David were afraid to tell him that the child was dead, for they said, “Behold, while the child was yet alive, we spoke to him, and he did not listen to us. How then can we say to him the child is dead? He may do himself some harm.” 19 But when David saw that his servants were whispering together, David understood that the child was dead. And David said to his servants, “Is the child dead?” They said, “He is dead.” 20 Then David arose from the earth and washed and anointed himself and changed his clothes. And he went into the house of the Lord and worshiped. He then went to his own house. And when he asked, they set food before him, and he ate. 21 Then his servants said to him, “What is this thing that you have done? You fasted and wept for the child while he was alive; but when the child died, you arose and ate food.” 22 He said, “While the child was still alive, I fasted and wept, for I said, ‘Who knows whether the Lord will be gracious to me, that the child may live?’ 23 But now he is dead. Why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he will not return to me.”
How is it you know so little about the dark side of your god? "It is clear that the traditional teaching on this topic has concentrated on the theory of limbo, understood as a state which includes the souls of infants who die subject to original sin and without baptism, and who, therefore, neither merit the beatific vision, nor yet are subjected to any punishment, because they are not guilty of any personal sin. This theory, elaborated by theologians beginning in the Middle Ages, never entered into the dogmatic definitions of the Magisterium, even if that same Magisterium did at times mention the theory in its ordinary teaching up until the Second Vatican Council. It remains therefore a possible theological hypothesis". In other words, for centuries, until 2007, the folks in your religion thought it was just fine that babies who died before receiving sacrament were sent into limbo for eternity. Again, what an unconditionally loving God you have.

Oh really? So those who don't share your faith do not face eternal damnation?

Certainly! Tell me how good you feel now and how long you were a Christian. But first, tell me exactly what a Christian is.
I feel great. And I was kidding about the hour long video, not going to bother with that.

I was a Christian for 20 years. When I was a Christian, I believed that you had to realize you were a sinner and needed forgiveness. So to become a Christian, I needed to repent of my sins, ask Jesus/God (I was Southern Baptist, they believe in the trinity) to forgive, and give my life to him. That is how I lived for 20 years.

It started to unravel when I looked into the biblical Jesus's claim to be the messiah...when I could not justify it biblically, I stopped being a Christian because I no longer believed Jesus was the Jewish messiah (if there truly is such a thing). I flirted around with becoming Jewish, but the more and more I read of the Hebrew scriptures, the more I became turned off to the idea. I then walked away from all Abrahamic religion.

Wanting to believe there was a god, I looked into some other similar religions but I came to the realization that there were no gods. Or if there had been any, they've long since abandoned mankind (I believe the former more so than the latter).

When I left religion behind, I found that I left some biases behind with it. I had no reason to dislike gay people anymore.

Overall, I'm happier as an atheist than a Christian. I don't have to spend my life hoping I'm pleasing some imaginary deity.

But that doesn't mean that they ever cease to exist in the meantime.
Yes, it does...unless Jesus resurrects us, we are out of existence when we die...

"For the living know* that they will die,+ but the dead know nothing at all,+ nor do they have any more reward,* because all memory of them is forgotten...Whatever your hand finds to do, do with all your might, for there is no work nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom in the Grave,*+ where you are going." Ecclesiastes 9:5,10

There are those who will not be resurrected, those who sin against the holy spirit...they are gone forever whenever they die...

"whoever speaks against the holy spirit, it will not be forgiven him, no, not in this system of things nor in that to come." Matthew 12:32
