Europeans seem to have a lot of train derailments lately.

That is actually a lot considering how many trains there are running in Europe.

There are loads of trains running in Europe and 2 crashes close together seem like a lot but when you look at pervious years it isn't that much! Two planes in the US have had problems landing in the past few weeks still doesn't mean anything in regards to air travel its just **** timing.

I wonder if the track was in disrepair.

They said there was an explosion prior to the crash. Please, watch the video in the link.
They are getting the black boxes and hopefully we'll find out. I don't see why a train would exceed the speed limit 2 and 3 times. The seed limit for this section was 80 km/h, the train was going 220 km/h.

The article though stated that there were no explosion. If the train exceded the speed limit that might be a partial cause.

Time to get rid of those old technology trains. Japan's bullet trains float at up to 320 KPH.

Hope this is irony or sarcasm.. because this stretch of track is designed for high speed trains that go 310 KPH, and the train in question is a "slower train" regional train that only goes up to around 200 KPH. It is also relatively new technology (as in they came into service the last decade) .. where as the bullet trains in Japan are actually old technology from the 1970s I believe :)

This looks like human error.

Both old and new technology actually. The new technology bullet trains float using magnetic levitation instead of wheels.
