The hell with White privilege, it's time the Liberals started whininng about Asian Privilege.

If ever there was proof that racism is not what's holding people down, that graph is it. Success in the US takes brains, work ethic, impulse control and a dedication to education---the right kind of education, not basket weaving or some cultural studies victimology bull****.

There is a radio station here in socal. In the morning there is a guy named bill Handel. I heard him say one day that he has a friend that is a college professor. The professor told bill that he tells his non Asian students to drop the class on the first day if it looks like 50% or more of the class is Asian. This is because a non Asian doesn't have a chance in hell of passing on the curve.

Racism doesn't exist unless it's negative against black people. Didn't you get the memo?

That nearly $70K average income is mind-blowing. Bunch of damned over-achievers. Someone needs to do something!! ;)

It's always white people this and white people that...but, notice who's really on top. And, that would not be possible if white people were holding everyone back because of their race.

So, yeah. Liberal race baiting is a lie.

Not really surprising, IMO.

Very interesting

It is also interesting that it is a direct result of education

It is important to recognize that many more Asian Americans have college degrees than whites. This 2010 EPI report found that nearly 60 percent of Asian American workers have a bachelor’s or higher degree compared to about 40 percent of white workers. College-educated workers tend to earn more than less-educated workers and this pulls up the median Asian American earnings.

When one compares the annual personal income of Asian Americans and whites of the same gender and educational level, Asian Americans do not always come out on top.

which is not surprising, but also interesting

The graph is simply reinfocing white acceptance and benevolent racism many white Americans feel towards that entire ethnic group. If you actually go to east Asia, you'll see there are poor farmers, laborers, people involved in petty street crime, people involved in organized crime, etc. Asians are not running to America in the form of refugees, and it's hard to immigrate to America. Americans let the best in, hence, you have highly educated Asians. You also have very highly educated and wealthy Arabs and west Asians practicing medicine, science, and technology. There is a high percentage of doctors from the middle east, but because there is also a influx of poor refugees the Syrians, Indians, etc. aren't seen as beneficial to America.

I suspect when it comes to people with only high school education, Whites probably come out on top. Mostly due to connections. That would be my guess.

Asians are a very small minority in America. There are far more black and brown people than there are Asians, so the majority (white) doesn't feel threatened by them. What I think is funny, if you go to a country like Australia, where they are the largest and fastest growing minority population, many white Aussies have negatives attitudes and stereotypes towards Asians. I found it strange since I am used to Asians being thought of so highly in America. Then if you go to Asia, you will see that that the American concept of Asian people is very narrow minded. Asian people are individuals first and foremost, and nothing is wrong with anybody making 57,000 versus 68,000. Many Americans are too quick to stereotype and scale cultures based on their concept of superiority.

This is such a stupid claim.

Do you really not see a difference between the initial conditions of African American emancipated slaves and upper middle class Asian American immigrants ...?

Grievance industry consumer, I presume.

Statistically, education is the closest correlator to one's measure financial success. And attaining adequate financial success is itself a strong correlator with one's quaity of life in terms of health, safety, crime, violence, etc.

It breaks my heart to see the anti-education mood in some areas of the country, and within some sects of society. What the hell these people are thinking, and who's marching orders they're following, are beyond me! :doh

Well, if the Jehovah's Witness would stop going door to door and get a real job...

...wait...combine door-to-door salesman with proselytizing!

"Hey, have you heard the Word? By the way, would you be interested in these vacuum cleaners?" ;)

SheWolf nails it. There [has been] a strong selection bias for highly-educated, wealthy Asian immigrants. Both in terms of Asian countries' emigration policies and our own immigration policies. They've started out wealthy. Furthermore when you actually dig into the data, you find that there's a huge variation among different ethnic groups -- exactly for that stated selection bias.

For example Taiwanese-American immigrants have largely been affluent, highly-educated people. They've been the ones able to afford getting out of Taiwan and getting into the USA, a big selection bias. In the USA they have one of the highest, if not the highest, median incomes out of all immigrant ethnic groups.

Comparatively you can look at Hmong-Amerians. The majority of Hmong-Americans were brought into the USA after the end of the Vietnam war as refugees. Their leaders supported the Americans in Vietnam and to prevent post-war violent ethnic cleansing we took on tens of thousands of Hmong refugees in the 70s and 80s. Hardly a selection bias if you're relocating entire villages. Today Hmong-Americans are one of the poorest ethnic immigrant groups in America and they see highschool drop out rates of 40%.

Bernie Sanders voters are lily white.

Also Sanders is rather hostile to broader immigration laws.

I'm talking about the lily white, guilt laden, race baiting grievance industry, whiners. Social Justice warriors who need government help to earn a living because they have minimum wage skills. Socialists who want others to pay for their iPhones and basket weaving classes.

Whites in Appalachia don't fair a whole lot better than Hmong immigrants, and they have been here for a half-dozen generations.
