Already, a small team of deputies roams the human-trafficking routes to enforce a nine-month-old state law that makes smuggling people a felony and effectively authorizes local police forces to enforce immigration law.
Not only do deputies charge the smugglers, but many of their customers have also been jailed. That has drawn criticism from several quarters, even the politician who sponsored the law and has generally supported Sheriff Arpaio's position.
The Mexican Consulate has filed a law suit against the Sheriff and against Maricopa County over the sheriff’s interpretation of the law in order to stop him from arresting illegals and charging them with this FELONY.
One of their arguments is that the sheriff is stopping them from providing for their families. The sheriff answered that their argument was ridiculous, like any common criminal arguing that they should be freed and allowed to continue to break the law because the police are preventing them from providing for their families by arresting them!
He went on to say that he is not a lawyer, that he is a policeman, and, if the Federal Government still refuses to do their jobs, if he has to put up 10,000 tents up to house all the criminals he catches and has convicted then he will do it!
Once again, the Mexican Federal Goverment is acting on the behalf of illegal Mexicans immigrants (by the MILLIONS) who are breaking U.S. Laws!
What is our Goverment doing for us?
Tipping off the Mexican Govt on the whereabouts of the Minutemen and trying to pass legislation rewarding 12+ Million illegals with citizenship while doing nothing to stop the illegal flood of more immigrants into the U.S.!
