If you have a relative or a friend who was killed in action or captured by enemy forces while serving in the military, do you consider that person a loser or a sucker for dying or being captured?

Do you think it's offensive to say that somebody who serves in the military is a sucker and a loser for getting captured or killed in combat?

This is a very nuanced issue, so I'm just curious where people stand on this.

One of my distant relatives fought in the Wehrmacht, XIX Armee Corps, and was killed at Tuchola Forest in Poland, four days into the Second World War.

I'm not saying he's a loser, but he got himself killed four days into 2193 day long war. Make an effort, dude.

This ought to be fun reading the inevitable deflections, projections, and lies that most trump supporters will inevitably bring.

Maybe, just maybe, this will be the issue that finally wakens up one or two of them. But I am not holding out hope.

My wife hadn't seen the news so I asked her, "Trump visited a cemetery for fallen WWI and WII soldiers. What is the most cartoonishly evil thing he said about them? Think 'Completely over the top.' Forget about subtlety."

Her eyes bugged out of her head when I told her.

Trump just says whatever pops into his head.

It's like one of those word association tests psychiatrists give you. They say "mother" and you say "home".

Only with Trump he heard "Arlington National Cemetery" the first word he thought of was "losers".

Not the confederate ones. The others, maybe.

It's times like this that make people wonder if Trump is playing 4 dimensional chess. He says an off-handed comment about suckers and losers and the left spends all of its energy for the next 48 hours trying to make hay from it.

But no one cares. People are thinking about stuff that affects them. Literally no one cares when Trump says something dumb. Which it was.

I don't think Trump is as smart as sometimes he seems. But many on the left are definitely as dumb as they act.

Whatever. You're perfect. Take out full page ads in the NY Times. Burn down a city or two over the "suckers and losers" comment. That will surely turn the tide against Trump and ensure a Biden victory.

Yeah what we really need is more outrage over that tan suit Obama once wore to a press conference.

If one of Trump now enemies John Bolton who was there along with eleven other people comes out and says he didn't hear him say anything like that your OP is kind of suspicious and partisan in its contents. You are dismissed without prejudice.

From Fox News:

Also, thanks for admitting what he said was atrocious.

I didn't hear him say it either. Bolton, like me, wasn't around Trump for all of the trip. As noted, people are dismayed at the possibility that Trump may have said this. No one is surprised, however. We all know that it sounds Trumpish.
