I am interested to know how many would be willing to submit to having Sharia Law implemented in the United States or having certain states willing to become "Sharia compliant".

As was explained to me by a devout Muslim at Starbucks a year ago (we had a very interesting but civil discussion over a very non-compliant latte), the implementation of Sharia Law, according to this gentleman would mean:

(a.) the closure of all *gay bars*;
(b.) the dissolve of all gay/bi/trans organizations;
(c.) closing of all pornographic / all night bookstores;
(d.) taxation of all Jewish synogogues and churches;
(e.) closure of all movie theatres;
(f.) closure of non-Moslem butcher shops.

He said that several liberal friends of his Islamic organization are in favor and would be willing to convert to Islam if America were to become Sharia compliant, leading to a Sharia-established, Islamic American republic.

However, I suprised when he stated that if America were to adopt Sharia Law or become "Sharia compliant" the ACLU would be banned. I asked him why, "... because this ACLU, you say, this ACLU is anti-religion, so it would be anti-Islam. We would outlaw this ACLU and all groups like it." And the ACLU attorneys? "They would be disbarred and immediately arrested."

I asked my friend what would happen say, if a gay person like myself were to reject Sharia Law. "He would, essentially, be arrested and held by Islamic Religious Police" and then "later fined for this perverted lifestyle. Our objective is not to kill anyone, but to have them leave the perverted lifestyle and eventually be changed into a true Muslim, like any other Muslim. There is no thing as "gay" in the Muslim world. It does not exist."

What about firearms? He stated, all weapons would be confiscated, registered and destroyed.

Private land? Businesses? All private land held by churches and Christian organizations would be subject to seizure by the Islamic Republic.

QUESTION: Are you willing to submit?

No, and some of Sharia Law conflicts with the rights and liberties of the individual; so it shall never be adopted.

What is the point of this question? All I see is that you're just trying to invent an argument for your political opposition.

Very simple:

* Are you willing to submit to Sharia Law? *

No, and some of Sharia Law conflicts with the rights and liberties of the individual; so it shall never be adopted.

Why do you think it couldn't happen here?
In 2008 Islamic Law was adopted in Britain.The government sanctioned Sharia Judges to rule on cases such as domestic violence, divorce, and financial disputes.

We have no worry of being subjected to Sharia Law. So WTF is the point?

I firmly believe this couldn't happen here. We are a secular government, we don't institute religious laws. If we tried, the SCOTUS would strike it down so fast it'd make your burqa spin.

You mean the SCOTUS that is being taken over by the far left?

I mean the Supreme Court of the United States. They are bound to their duty the same as anyone else. I think if you really believe that our SCOTUS would allow for Sharia law to become legal practice; that perhaps you and Alex Jones share a common "crazy" bone. No way, no how. We've let a lot of things slide that shouldn't; but we're not going to institute religious law. Particularly through a SCOTUS "that has been taken over by the far left".

Nothing to see here folks. Move along.

We ALL know Sharia law will NEVER infest itself on American shores. You can put away the duct tape.

You can come out now!

The UK has implemented Sharia Courts in 2009 and will be implementing a new "phased Sharia Law" plan for Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales in 2010-2011. Deerborn, MI is about to implement county-wide Sharia "districts" where Christians will not be allowed to "missionize" Muslims and Synagogues will have to remain *outside* a certain, specified area, which will be "Muslim only" or what the police there now call "no go districts." 5 Christians were arrested earlier this year for standing outside of an Islamic festival handing out religious tracts.

NJ, NY and CA all have pending Islamic Sharia legislation at the county level.

Here in Texas, there is talk of a "Sharia District" in Houston where there is a large Muslim population; as to the scope, tenor and objective of what a "Sharia District" would entail, I am unsure.

Nope, I wouldn't submit to the Sharia law. I respect what they have to say, but in the end they can't force me to obey. (1st Amendment)

I think it is just about impossible for it to become accepted American Law in the first place. Law and religion should be completely separate. Law is meant to be secular, ignoring a few Christian fundamentalists that say that it isn't.

Honestly, I would expect Christian law to officially go into effect before Sharia law came into effect.

Exactly, particularly as it was laid out in the OP. There is no way that we would implement it those sorts of laws. And even if they were tried, it would find its way into the court system right quick.

America is no longer Christian, so there is nothing called "Christian law."

There are more Mosques in the UK than churches and more Muslims than active, practicing Christian. The UK is truly "secular." The UK has now elected to use Sharia Law in certain courts to try marriage, infidelity, trust and criminal cases by procedure as long as British courts give acceptance (which most judicial courts now have).

As a homosexual I am against *ANY* religious law, especially *Sharia Law* because it is homophobic and anti-feminist. Sharia Law restricts a womans right to choose (Syria, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, 2005-2010) and arrests women who are "independent feminists." (Iran, 2009, 2010)

A Muslim raped his wife in N.J.
A judge found in favor of the husband on religious grounds. He was acting on his Islamic beliefs that allow him to have sex with his wife whenever he wants. Thankfully the ruling was overturned.

Barbbtx,

Your not supposed to post things like that. As Mr. Obama has said, " ... it never took place" (when asked by a CNN reporter about the case).

Liberalism rejects Christianity because of its moral implications but protects, cajoles and supports radicalized, anti-Semitic, anti-gay, anti-Christian, bigoted, racist *Sharia Law* because it is at war with the West. Moral of the story: *ANYTHING* that is anti-American is supported by the left (mass murder, rape, etc.)

Doubleplusungood.

If they demand their own courts can we stop them? From what GayL is saying it's already going on or will be. How can we as Americans allow them to have their own laws that are against everything we stand for?

So, your source is some guy at Starbucks?

I guess there's no point asking for a link...

Barbbtx, you can't.

You will be forced to *submit* or face arrest, prison or execution.

A year ago, Saudi Arabia beheaded 4 homosexuals convicted under Sharia Law Court guidelines.

Liberals: *silent*.

Americans MUST OPPOSE SHARIA LAW and stand up for freedom, women's rights, and the protection of minorities.

Liberals: any opposition to Sharia Law is "tea party activism."

I must have missed that. You mean he didn't say "I don't have all the facts, but the wife acted stupidly?" :)

Yes. All courts created in America are subject to the rule of the State Supreme courts and larger to the SCOTUS. We are not allowed to make any lesser court which is not under the control of SCOTUS and SCOTUS is allowed to be the one and only "major" court.

I remember this being discussed in a different thread and it coming out that the ruling isn't excatly as you claim it to be. But I don't remember where that is; probably buried in that one mosque thread.

No, this won't happen. We are not going to have laws which will allow for the discrimination of homosexuals just because there are Muslims in America. This is just stupid. No law which would allow for the oppression or subjugation of certain sects of our society will be permitted in our society. Take that to the bank. If you really think you have to fear Sharia law in this country, you belong in the conspiracy theory section. No way, no how. Bet your bottom dollar on that.

Ok, well maybe if you're gay and want to get married; but that one can hardly be blamed on Sharia law.

Sharia courts do operate in Britain. They have no legal standing under British justice, however. They are totally voluntary and the courts have no right to enforce their judgements. They operate in the same way that Beth Din courts and Anglican and Catholic ecclesiastical courts have operated in Britain for centuries. Suggesting that Britain is under Sharia law is disingenuous at best.
