Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) says she is “tired” of the long-standing separation between church and state in the U.S., adding that she believes “the church is supposed to direct the government.”
In a Sunday speech at the Cornerstone Christian Center in Basalt, Colo., ahead of her primary election on Tuesday, Boebert argued that “the government is not supposed to direct the church,” falsely claiming that dividing religion from the system of government was not what the Founding Fathers intended.
“I’m tired of this separation of church and state junk — that’s not in the Constitution. It was in a stinking letter and it means nothing like they say it does,” Boebert said, earning a round of applause from the audience.

What we need is Theocracy.....apparently
Can inquisition and witch burnings be far behind?

Boebert is a moron. She has always been a moron and she will always be a moron. She is anti-American and wants a fascist police state. This is why I voted against her.

Protestants are insane people. They are the people "of Christianity stopped in the 16th century".

No. Please don't accuse all Protestants of being wack jobs. Yes, there are some Protestants who do wish they could control every person's life and there are others who are much more welcoming. The diversity in beliefs is the primary reason there are more than 30,000 faiths that call themselves Christian.

No. This is not a conservative position, as it is not trying to conserve any value that ever existed in the United States. It is reactionary, in that it is trying to destroy America's founding values and take it back to the middle ages.

"'The government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion"
-John Adams

"Mingling religion with politics may be disavowed and reprobated by every inhabitant of America….As an engine of power it serves the purpose of despotism; and as a means of wealth, the avarice of priests; but so far as respects the good of man in general, it leads to nothing here or hereafter.”
-Thomas Paine

"During almost fifteen centuries has the legal establishment of Christianity been on trial. What have been its fruits? More or less in all places, pride and indolence in the Clergy, ignorance and servility in the laity, in both, superstition, bigotry and persecution...In some instances they have been seen to erect a spiritual tyranny on the ruins of the Civil authority; in many instances they have been seen upholding the thrones of political tyranny: in no instance have they been seen the guardians of the liberties of the people. Rulers who wished to subvert the public liberty, may have found an established Clergy convenient auxiliaries. A just Government instituted to secure & perpetuate it needs them not.”
-James Madison

"History, I believe, furnishes no example of a priest-ridden people maintaining a free civil government. This marks the lowest grade of ignorance of which their civil as well as religious leaders will always avail themselves for their own purposes."
-Thomas Jefferson to Alexander von Humboldt, Dec. 6, 1813.

"They [the Christian clergy] believe that any portion of power confided to me, will be exerted in opposition to their schemes. And they believe rightly; for I have sworn upon the altar of god, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man. But this is all they have to fear from me: and enough, too, in their opinion."
-Thomas Jefferson to Dr. Benjamin Rush, Sept. 23, 1800

So students can handle some things but not the Bible? And "Christ" is okay if used as a byword but not in a deep discussion about Atheism vs. GOD?
You realize that not all school districts are rural, southern, conservative and fundamentalist and a discussion of atheism vs God might determine that the Bible is not the inherent word of God, atheism is a rational choice and Clavin was wrong. Would you still be OK with religion in school?

Boebert is a flaming ignoramus who supports a traitor.

I'm not in favor of having an ayatollah in charge.
unlike most of the right wing...

Unfortunately...even those once considered to be reasonable on the right (lol) in many countries now say they want a: christian, gross, "morallity" imposed on everybody...

We need to resist this as an international community...

Freedom for everybody...Resist the cultural imposition of the right wing side

What the rabid anti-theists don't get is that it requires the legislature to actually establish a religion. A government official, like say the President, giving a religious speech does not establish a national religion any more than a valedictorian giving a religious speech establishes a national religion. What the anti-theists are actually doing is infringing on the rights of valedictorians to speak freely.

That does not mean public schools should start teaching religion. It means that public schools need to stop interfering with the free exercise of religious belief and the freedom of speech.

Unless there is a law enacted by some legislature either in one of the States or by Congress that proclaims a particular religious belief, there is no established religion.

What rabid evangelical protestants don't get is that they are selling their religion 24/7 in every place they can worm their bigoted little bodies into. They intolerantly dismiss every religion but their own, inform everyone that they have the only way into heaven and generally make themselves obnoxious about who is acceptable. Like trash they need to be swept out occasionally simply because they get on everyone's nerves. They don't belong in schools. The purpose of school is to educate. The purpose of all intolerant fundamentalist religions is to gain political power to impose their religion on everyone, with the added benefit of punishment for those who do conform. This is being dramatically demonstrated right now by the anti-abortion movement ever since the the Supreme Court has allowed them to meddle with secular laws.

And they have that constitutionally-protected right enshrined within the First Amendment.

They intolerantly dismiss every religion but their own, inform everyone that they have the only way into heaven and generally make themselves obnoxious about who is acceptable.
That sounds exactly like every religion on the planet.

Like trash they need to be swept out occasionally simply because they get on everyone's nerves. They don't belong in schools.
That is simply ignorant bigotry.

The purpose of school is to educate.
That hasn't been the purpose of public schools in the US since Democrats illegally created the Department of Education in 1980. The purpose of public schools since Democrats took control has been to indoctrinate and not educate. As we are witnessing today with the bigoted leftist filth pushing CRT.

The purpose of all intolerant fundamentalist religions is to gain political power to impose their religion on everyone, with the added benefit of punishment for those who do conform.
Once again you are demonstrating your ignorant bigotry, nothing more.

There has never been a prohibition against holding a religious belief and serving in government. There have been Catholic Priests serving in Congress.

What the US Constitution requires is that government - including public schools - not infringe on the enumerated rights of the people. That includes their freedom of speech and their freedom to freely exercise their religious beliefs.

And they have that constitutionally-protected right enshrined within the First Amendment.
They do and they abuse it.
That sounds exactly like every religion on the planet.
Most religions pretty much mind their own business. When was the last time you heard about Presbyterians advocating the overthrow of some country's government and following it up with a raid on that capitol?
That is simply ignorant bigotry.
Call it what you want. The history of evangelical protestantism is filled with cultures getting fed up with them and taking them out with the trash.

And you know all this because you've heard it on Fox. What you don't know is that most public school teachers are Republican and CRT is not being taught in schools. Look it up!
Once again you are demonstrating your ignorant bigotry, nothing more.
No, I'm not being ignorant or bigoted. Controlling politics is one of the goals of evangelical protestants. Paul Weyrich said, "We are talking about Christianizing America. We are talking about the Gospel in a political context. When political power is achieved, the moral majority will have the opportunity to re-create this great nation.”
There has never been a prohibition against holding a religious belief and serving in government. There have been Catholic Priests serving in Congress.
Never said there was. Kennedy kept his Catholicism out of the Oval Office. As did Carter. The only president that brought in religious advisors and pandered to them was Trump.

Refute that!
What the US Constitution requires is that government - including public schools - not infringe on the enumerated rights of the people. That includes their freedom of speech and their freedom to freely exercise their religious beliefs.
Freedom of speech and religion is freely exercised within the venue of the church and it's congregants. The minute their free exercise starts invading other people's personal lives, telling other people what they can and can't do, labeling people if they don't believe in their brand of religion they need to be invited to leave when the garbage truck arrives.
