Are you against Texas busing immigrants to Washington DC?

Just curious what liberals think about this action by Texas gov Abbott. It seems to me like it would benefit the immigrants that go to DC so I’m wondering if liberals are against it? If you are against it, why? And if so, should Texas have the right to patrol it’s borders on its own dime?

It's a typical republican taliban publicity stunt to pander to racist morons. Talk about socialism and waste of money. Illegal immigration isn't this gigantic problem republicans lie and pretend it is to scapegoat what greedy POS they are.

Just like the stunt at the border, slow down border to jack up food prices even more so moronic terrorsits can blame dems, then try to use that toe blackmail fed government into more border spending. All a stunt to pander to the lowest of the low in this country, republican base

I'm against forced bussing but it is practically a recreation of a South Park episode which I think is pretty funny.

One busload down, 5.9 million (17% of TX pop) immigrants to go. TX might want to rethink stopping produce from coming over the border. They won't have immigrants to work the fields to grow their own if they achieve their apparent goal.

What are the benefits for the immigrants in DC??? How many are actually being bused? Isn't this just another silly publicity stunt by the Rabid Right??? If Abbott and the MAGA crowd are so worried about the border, why not use the state's dime to build the tRump Wall??? They were all for it when tRump ass was in the Oval Office....

But then again it was a way to get more FEDERAL money spent in the Loony Star State... ✌️

1) A free society should prize open borders. The fact that state borders are open but national borders are not is a completely arbitrary invention.

2) better for those migrants anyway that they get to live in places more welcoming than Texas.

Abbott did that too. A little bit. California donated some leftover panels but Texas is on the hook for one billion dedicated to Abbott's pet project

I could be wrong, but I think all of this is taken out of context.
ICE detains someone coming into the US illegally, they have a hearing, and are given a date to appear in court, and released.
They are free to go where they want to until their court date, if they are offered a free bus ride to DC, that is ok if they accept.

It ain't free. Conservatives focus laser sharp on Liberal spending, citing the cost....

This is costing someone money. Is it coming out of Abbot's pocket???

Maybe his big money donors.

Maybe the taxes paid for much more important things... ✌️

True, but it is not costing the riders anything.
Having seen the University Funding plan from the inside, Texas usually does not spend anything that cannot show a return.
I suspect they have an idea how much each of these people will cost the system if they wait for their hearing in Texas,
and can justify the cost of paying for the bus fair, as the least cost path.

Sounds fine but do you have a link to a story?

Yes, I am against it. It is costing the taxpayers of Texas money. They aren't forced busing them and not only that, these are people LEGALLY released into the US by immigration authorities, meaning that Abbott has zero authority here.

Again, no facts, just opinion. What are the costs to Texas??? 2 busloads doesn't make much of a difference in total cost. IF your idea holds water shouldn't/wouldn't Abbot line up hundreds of buses????

I've noticed Universities are INCREASING tuition costs. Texas politicians have been CUTTING revenue. Texas does spend without any hope of a rate of return.

Will Abbot pay for the immigrants to return for their hearings???

Just a weak kneed political stunt changing nothing but echoing in the MAGA sound chamber... ✌️

I agree that it is a political stunt, but it likely can be justified.
University costs go up also, and the credit for classes taught was reformulated to allow equal distribution.
In the past STEM classes were credited at a higher rate than Humanities for example.
When they started crediting them all the same, it broke the funding model, and tuitions had to go up to compensate.
( I also think Universities took advantage of their monopoly)

I’m not against it. I got a chuckle from it. I think this falls into the category of, “Not in my backyard.” In other words, most of those for illegals who cross into this country, illegally, without going through the legal process, want them to stay in Texas, but not come to where they live. Stay away from me, but you’re welcome to come to places I don’t live. Stay away from my backyard.

It seems like a good idea. A number of them said they wanted to go to Florida and it is easier to get there from DC than from TX.

If they came to your back yard, do you think you would notice?

Yes!
I am fairly certain I have a group of illegals in a rent house near me.
The signs are that they have over 8 adults and 2 or 3 children living in a 3 bedroom home.
I remember I had a friend who was illegal in 1979, he lived in a two bedroom apartment with 6 people,
He shared a bedroom with 4 other guys.
For most illegals it is about maximizing what they can send home each month, which means minimizing
their cost of living in the US.
Mexican Migrants Sent Home a Record $40 Billion in 2020
I fully understand that a person working a manual labor job in the US can make what a degreed person makes in Mexico.

let's ask Christians.

If they came to your back yard, do you think you would notice?
I probably would notice would I care? I wouldn't know until it happens. There's a ton a things people are for until it begins to happen in their own backyard. Then it oh no, not here. It's pretty darn easy for people to be all for illegals crossing illegally as long as they're 500, 1,000 or 2,000 miles away from their backyard.

Well, with Texas being a Nazi state now, you'd think everyone would be fine with them being bused to D.C.

And Abbot is taking advantage of his monopoly. Course the rate has risen steadily for some time now. Guess it's true about Doctorate holders. Brillant but can't balance a check book...

'Justifying' a political stunt- my, how the bar has been lowered in the state to my south.... :cautious:

Course the stunt with California's unused wall segments IS gonna cost Texas money, wonder if the legislature will raise taxes to pay off the debt??? ✌️

Yes. Stop the demand and the supply would dry up. TX benefits from undocumented immigrants as much or more than most other states.

No, it's unconstitutional.
