This is a pretty good article, from Cracked of all places. It's pretty good.

I cant see this at work, but it sounds like an interesting article. I have a friend that talks all the time about how much better everything is now. If our air conditioning unit goes out school closes now. I remember the day...

Wait, oh hell, nevermind.
The only reason "billions" may have been lifted out of poverty is due to the US taxpayer being squeezed harder and harder every year.
