Everyone, at some time or another, is hypocritical. Left, right, conservative, progressive, you, me... It happens. Such is life.

The real issue with conservatives today, though, is that they have largely unified behind the Republican Party, which is in thrall to the plutocrats. Note that in the past, the parties were more ideologically diverse -- there were conservative Democrats, and moderate and liberal Republicans. This causes a few issues.

One, Republican elected officials have pressed harder and harder on white grievance, racist, sexist, xenophobic views as their primary policies (cutting taxes for the wealthy and corporations; deregulation; cutting safety nets; opposing single payer health care etc) are increasingly unpopular.

Two, this often results in promises to social conservatives that rarely result in actual policies -- hence the hypocritical worship of Trump by evangelicals, because he's giving them a few crumbs off the table.

Three, Trump's inept authoritarianism and cult of personality is based on a total disregard for any sort of truth, accuracy, fairness or consistency. Everything except a one-way demand by Trump for loyalty goes out the window. Thus, anyone who sides with him for more than two minutes is forced to adopt hypocritical positions. Character matters, but not when it comes to a thrice-divorced serial adulterer; deficits are terrible and will destroy the nation, but not when Trump is in office; mail-in ballots will destroy the nation, but it's OK when Trump votes repeatedly by mail.... I could literally be here all day citing instances where people need to violate their own values and long-held political positions, because they expect Trump will do something they want, or are afraid to criticize him.

However, this is NOT a result of a specific ideology, it's a result of autocracy. We see the same conditions in autocrats around the world, whether they are right-wing (Peron, Duterte), Communist (Castro, Stalin), leftist (Correa, Maduro), whatever.

This is because for an autocrat, truth doesn't matter, and lies serve primarily to distract the opposition and express power. The poor suckers who work for or support the autocrat are thus forced to contradict themselves on a daily basis, primarily as a constant loyalty test and distraction method.

is trump a self made man, or a socialism made hypocrite?
Who are these "Conservative men" who "claim to be self-made"?
Can you define what "Conservative" means in this context you are using it in?
What is Socialism and what kind of Socialism is it that these "self-proclaimed self-made Conservatives" have received?
Is Trump really a Conservative and by what standards?

First, how exactly are you defining "socialism"?

Second, in answer to your general question, some conservatives are hypocrites. I would wager most are not.

How can an individual be an -ism?

You'll have to be more specific in what you regard as "socialism" for anyone to provide an in-depth response.

This is not a serious thread--one meant to inspire actual thought.

It is merely flamebait.

So, this thread is not really about "Conservatives", but rather about Donald Trump?

I am not interested in engaging in an undefined topic that is obviously veiled in partisan fanboy-ism and is only intended to advocate the idea of "OpPoSiTiOn BaD".

If I was a moderator, 99% of threads on this forum would be deleted. :D

firstly: this thread was supposed to be a poll, but the poll system on this forum is retarded because they dont give you warning about the word limits and time limits. and they also dont let you delete a post to remake it.

secondly: is it a coincidence that the great leader of the conservatives (donald) also happens to be one of the biggest hypocrites of all in the sense i speak of. that sense being that they receive massive socialism for themselves yet preach against it for everyone else.

Gotcha. The thread is about Trump. In other words; more of the usual, typical and boring practical politics and partisan cheerleading.

Democrats and Republicans on this forum constantly prove that there is indeed nothing that actually divides them.

My answer to the question is I don't really care.

"I'm a rebel who doesn't live by anyone's rules, not even my own."

More seriously, no one lives up to his principles all the time. Everyone lies and everyone is a hypocrite at one time or another.

its funny how often conservatives have had to use that excuse in the last 4 years.

"everyone is a liar, criminal, hypocrite, evil, stupid, etc... therefore just accept it in trump."

haha

Trump is not and never has been a self-made man. Yes, the hypocrisy reeks from the pores of the Republican Senate. The Republicans’ hypocrisy is so hard-core cynical, it is astounding that people fall for it, but they do. The Republicans are led and financed by really big money through super pacs, and that’s who they work for, plain and simple.

How do they, with a straight face, pass through a massive tax cut for the wealthy and the biggest corporations, and then convince white workers that those tax cuts is good for them? How do they pass that huge cut, and then almost immediately say there’s no money for Social Security, Medicare & Medicaid, and white workers believe them?

Time and time again we’ve seen Republicans happily destroy long standing rules within Congress to get their own way, or make up rules that were never the case previously in order to get their way. And then, when out of power, complain vociferously of the other side doing the same thing.

It's true regardless which side you're on. Impeached former-president, convicted perjurer, serial philanderer and likely sexual assaulter Bill Clinton is going to give a DNC speech to the wokey-woke Democrats who believe in #metoo and #believeher except when they don't.

Any examples?

Both parties are hypocrites. I just depends on what party is in the White House.

Any examples?

look at the 6 pictues i posted in this thread on the first page

the future of capitalism is a future where none of the rich people actually earned any of their money.

If you want to live the socialist dream in the US, just like our European friends (i.e. living in cramped quarters while paying high taxes on a meager salary from a job that gives you security notwithstanding your obvious mediocrity, tons of vacation, and an early retirement), all you have to do is become a school teacher in California.

Maybe I shouldn't point out but i will that the majority of the rich of this country lean democratic who made their money off the less fortunate.

Good point ~ "Conservative" and "Trump/Trump supporters" are very very very different terms.

maybe trump supporters are just conservatives that have the balls to show their true nature.

lol

Yeah, I don't do "memes". Try using your words to explain what you see as the issue.
