Mortgage deduction to stay a part of tax law
Bush rejects idea of changing tax code to eliminate mortgage benefit

TAMPA, Fla. - President Bush Friday rejected the idea of any change in the U.S. tax code that would eliminate the deduction for mortgage interest. . . .

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11411191/

I desperately need that deduction. Even with that deduction, I still owe every freaking year!

How about the child tax credit that he moved from, $500 to $1000?

And, not to belittle your epiphany....
...but a lot of 'you' people would agree with GWB -- if he werent a Republican.

Well, considering I don't have any kiddie poos, that credit won't help me.

Okay.

You're right. If Bush were a Democrat, I would be pro-life, oppose gay marriage, support torture, and favor ANWR drilling. But my political stance on every issue is different, just because he's a Republican.

LOL.. It never occurs to the cons that someone may have a different view of things. If you don't like the way they do things you have to hate GWB.

Or as Glenn Greenwald would say, to be a conservative is to support Bush's actions because they are the actions of George Bush.

How's that aps!!....:rofl

I'm sure there are many gentlemen here who would be happy to correct that situation for you? LOL J/K

Me? I've been married 20 years...10 of the happiest years of my life...with one son. ( One is quite enough, thank you!)

As far as your mortgage...if you have a 30 year mortgage, and you can swing one extra payment a year...in otherwords, 13 payments a year, a 30 year mortgage will be paid off in 17 years!

I refinanced a while back and got locked in at a low rate, and changed to a 15 year mortgage. But I agree with you, Bush can do some good things once in a while, even if they are few and far between! LOL

I am retired and gross about $70K every year and I love the presidents tax cuts.......In addition to having my monthly tax cut I get a refund every year now where as I use to pay...........Oh and I am far from rich .........

Lets get those tax cuts made permanent.....

Thank you President Bush........

Is this really true? I have a 30-year mortgage. While I know I would save $$ by paying it off sooner, does that help me tax-wise?

Do you mean that you're all for any tax breaks that effect you personally vs. judging what's best for our nation and our revenues?

I'm not speaking specifically to the mortgage deduction, but your first two posts in this thread appear to be based on your personal tax assessments not on value judgements for the society? Is that where you're coming from?

I remind you that our national debt as of today is more than $27K each for every person living in the USA...and is at an all-time high and that one day, sooner or later, the bill will come due.

Well, World Champs, I claim 0 exemptions for both federal and state taxes. I donate some serious money to good causes during the year. I still owe something like $3000 every year. My salary is cut in almost half because of taxes. Trust me, the government isn't doing too badly with my money.

That's not my point, at all. Taxes are not about individuality IMHO, they're about equally sharing the responsibilty, something that Bush and his Mafia do not believe in, which is why this thread is scary. You seem to be swayed by lower taxes in one segment and that is making you feel OK with the current tax system, one that disporportionately favors the wealthy at the expense of the middle class and poor. In other words Bush seems to be buying your approval for his tax methods, methods that have led to massive debt, entitlement program reductions, incredible government waste in earmark programs etc.

Big business is doing great because of the Bush's favoritism, yet individual savings by citizens is it's lowest level since 1933 which was the height of the Great Depression. Of course Bush has his favorites, i.e. oil companies, and he has big indistries he hates because they're unionized, i.e. Automobile and Airlines. All you have to do is look at Bush's personal business history to see which companies are thriving due to his tax breaks, and who is suffering because of them.

Do I like paying 44% of my income to taxes? Hell no! But I do like that my kids have excellent public schools to attend, that NYC schools were open the day after our largest snow storm ever and that due to greater investment of tax dollars by NY State citizens in education that our overall education system is improving every year...versus what goes on in Red states like Mississippi where the average student ranks near the bottom of students anywhere in the First World, or in Kansas where the local government ability to educate its citizens is such a failure that 2 out of 3 people do not believe in Evolution and think that God is Science!

Don't you love when a Creationist Zealot says that Evolution is a made up theory by Noah's Ark is fact? Or that Evolution is BS but the Bible is 100% fact? This is what happens when we undereducate the masses, and what happens when tax cuts prevent our society from keeping up with the rest of the educated world, where other countries tax their citizens a far greater amount than in America and where the average citizen is much, much better educated thatn the average American!

You have to understand aps that Champs is for increasing taxes........He is one of the liberals who loves spending money on failed governement programs as long as it is the taxpayers money and not his.........It makes him all feely good..........

He has never seen a tax increase he did not love.........He will never understand that the tax cuts that JFK, RR, and GWB were a great thing in helping the economy and giving the people their own money to spend......

He thinks your money belongs to the government and will never get it.........

You know $hit about me and what I love so stop writing what my opinion is and stick to your own damn opinion...which is easy for everyone to know...it's whatever Bush tells you it should be....but that's for another thread, preferably in the basement so I can then express my true thoughts on your mental capabilities.

As usual you did not address the specifics of what I wrote because you don't debate you opine...you don't know how to debate. My last post included debating points, expressions of specific things that I agree or disagree with specifically.

Your post is nonsense nothingness like virtually every post you submit. The words YADA YADA perfectly describe what you write...every single time...

This is sheer lunacy, spoken from complete, and willful, ignorance.

How so? Is it beyond your ability to actually debate rather than insult? Give it a try, it would be refreshing, for once.
Irony:
That YOU posted the quote, above.

Show that the current tax system, is one that disporportionately favors the wealthy at the expense of the middle class and poor.

You're the one disputing my post....disprove it, for once...you always squawk but you never debate....

You're just mad that the tax system now treats everyone equally as opposed to soaking the rich I thought liberals were supposed to be about equality.

Your parents should have taught you the meaning of personal responsibility.

Liberals always whine that the rich get all the tax cuts....What they conveniently forget to mention is the rich pay 90 percent of the taxes in this country..........

Its all liberal spin..........

just why do you think the RESPONSIBLE should be FORCED to aid the IRRESPONSIBLE?
Goodwill cannot be forced
Americans are more than generous enough, such that we could care for those in need without crippling the economy or the average joe's with wealth redistribution
just look at the economies of such 'enlightened socialist' countries with cradle to grave entitlements, and ask yourself if that is the future you want for your offspring

And let me ask you this, since you are so gungho for high taxes, did you continue to pay taxes at the rate you were taxed before bushes tax cuts?
or do you donate all the money you get to keep as a result of the tax cuts?
or are you just talk?
