A US teenager who discovered a security flaw in Apple's FaceTime video-calling system has been given a bug bounty.

Apple has not revealed the exact amount it is giving 14-year-old Grant Thompson but it is believed to include money to help pay for his education.

Smart move by Apple. Good PR + boosting this future Apple superstar employee. Pay for his education through MIT or RPI + make him a job offer he can't refuse in return.

Google and Microsoft have been doing this for years. Apple has not because of their arrogance.

Yep, find talent early on and earn/buy their loyalty. Kid obviously has a knack for this kind of thing.

Will they give Google money as well? They just outed 2 zero day flaws in iOS... again.
