WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump laced his State of the Union speech with puffed-up numbers and partial truths Tuesday as he hailed an “economic miracle,” warned of human traffickers flooding across the border and appeared to place Afghanistan in the Middle East instead of where it is, Asia.

Trump used information selectively in claiming a drop in drug prices not seen in half a century and promised the nation it would see bountiful benefits from a trade deal that hasn’t been approved, might not be and in any event makes only modest changes from the status quo.

Nolte: The Media’s 9 Worst ‘Fact Checks’ of Trump’s State of the Union

The establishment media fact checkers had it pretty tough Tuesday night.

To begin with, they went into the State of the Union knowing they no longer have any credibility with the public, and they came out of it forced to lie or pound out a series of tedious nit-picks. Or, in the case of the far-left Washington Post’s Glenn Kessler, had to pretend the sexual assault of migrant women isn’t as bad as Trump made it sound.

The New York Times labels as “false” Trump’s statement about illegal border crossings being an “urgent national crisis.”

But it’s only after a paragraph of pedantic blah, blah, blah that the far-left Times finally admits a “record number of families have tried to cross the border in recent months, overwhelming officials at the border and creating a new kind of humanitarian crisis.”

Although border apprehensions plummeted by 91 percent after fencing was completed in San Diego, the Times labeled it “misleading” when Trump said a border barrier in San Diego “almost completely ended illegal crossings.”

Trump said we have been fighting in the Middle East for almost 19 years.

Because it’s been “almost 18 years,” the New York Times calls Trump a liar because the New York Times will decide what “almost” means.

Just a few examples.... The media is again in meltdown mode.

Deceiver-In-Chief! Or DIC, for short!

I like that.

Yeah, no doubt the Donny Deplorable Dummy's cheered every word he uttered, no matter how flagrantly deceitful or laced with alternative facts or sliced and diced to misconstrue the facts!

So sad to know so many of my fellow Citizens, Trump followers and supporters, have taken to mass denial, or more, to mentally self lobotomizing themselves when it comes to Trump reality!

So, so sad!

Yeah...we can count on the FAKE NEWS/LYING LEFT for a "FACT CHECKING"....the last , desperate refuge of the EXPOSED FAKE NEWS MEDIA...their own "fact checkers".

Anyone who believes tRump is a sad person.

Did crime rates plummet after a wall was built in El Paso Texas?

What I find interesting is the sudden emphasis on human trafficking.

When Trump claimed that illegal drugs were constantly coming across the border, his opposition rushed to claim that no drugs came over the border, only through the airports. That would seem to be a presumption, because all one can report on are the shipments intercepted, not the ones that get through-- but in any case, Trump's SOTU emphasized human trafficking as well.

So is there any alternate method by which traffickers can successfully transport lots of human beings into the U.S.? There may well be, but I suspect airports are not going to be the method of choice.
