AOC demonstrates of how easy it is to be corrupt in government

Who needs this to be demonstrated? We all know this. Anyone thinks AOC is somehow above the reach of lobbyists?
HA!

Yeah...like the LOBBYIST-FUNDED, House Dems LUXURY PUERTO RICAN JAUNT during the government shutdown....mainly the HOUSE HISPANIC CAUCUS....oh wait...ISN'T OCASIO-CORTEZ a member of that CAUCUS?

WHY YES, SHE IS!!!

Yeah...she most certainly is PROVING how easily "government can be corrupted"....isn't she?

As expected, the F-Troop of Trump apologists is making its appearance.

Did AOC go to PR during the gov't shutdown?

‘We have a system that is fundamentally broken.’ — Rep. @AOC is explaining just how f*cked campaign finance laws really are

Every American should watch this 5 minute NowThis video vignette by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter. (adjust the volume upward if necessary)

This lady didn't know where she was going to live or how she was going to pay for it when she moved to DC. Now, she can afford very nice clothes.

Makes a person wonder exactly WHERE she has gotten her money so suddenly. Perhaps from some well-heeled donors?

Yes, she is guilty --of wearing nice clothes-- until proven innocent

That why folks want to see Trumps tax returns which you oppose.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Well it doesn't sound like they're going to be very happy with her does it? It follows that she'll be returning to rags soon, yes, as they stop funding her?

Or maybe, y'know, she uses her salary.

I refer you to another member's response in post #8. It applies to Trump, as well.

I think it remains to be seen to what extent AOC be within or without the reach of lobbyists; however, lobbyists and their "reach" haven't a thing to do with the content of the video to which the OP refers. Did you even watch it?

One can certainly see who were her top campaign contributors.

I suspect much of the reason for the attention focused on her, particularly by "the right," is dearth of extant traditional political "dirt" in her background. I mean, really, what is there is there to find in the background of a "regular" person whose prior experiences entail high school, earning a degree in economics, bartending and waiting tables? The occasional over-pour? Slow service?

The door of this part of the federal government is open to merit of every description, whether native or adoptive, whether young or old, and without regard to poverty or wealth.

Tell me how much her outfits cost. Since you’re the expert.

She now has a 6 figure salary. Envious?

And ironically, all of them will agree with AOC that it is terrible for dems to take corporate pac money

But is OK when repubs do it

nope i think both parties should he HEAVILY regulated in accepting it... of course i am more of a libertarian than republican anyway.

I beg to differ. She seems squeaky clean and that's great. It's her ideology and the fact that she lives in front of the camera, proposing taking out centrist Dems and ridiculous socialist policies that makes the Right hate her.

This is the problem when people scream there should be 'term limits' in the Congress.

Term limits won't help because the day after the new Congress person is sworn in the lobbies and the money will be knocking on their door with bags full of money. The answer is to take the bags of money out of government, but that is absolutely like the fox watching the hen house.

The Right hates her because she's a female, a minority and a Democrat. The Conservative media was attacking her before she was even sworn in and they knew what any of her 'positions' were.

The right hates her because they fear her, and they have many good reasons to fear her.

She represents everything that will doom the gop, as it currently exists

True... But there's some of what I said too. They started attacking her even before she was sworn in. I live in NY and I never even heard of the woman until I got on the net and on here and read articles about how Fox, and Limbaugh and the rest were attacking her daily and AOC wasn't even in Congress yet.. I mean a 'dance video'??? lol

She's the Con Media's new bogeyman, she's a Dem, a minority and a woman. Lots and lots of red meat there for the GOP base.

Without a doubt! The fact that she is young, female, not white, and a leftist, means she is representative of many millenials - a demographic that leans democratic.

My point is that there is much more to her than that.

Indeed. A degree in Economics, an extrovert personality, and her newly co-authored Green New Deal bill is sophisticated.

Blue:
Re: "Squeaky Clean" --> Okay, well, then from whence in your mind came the susceptibility to the "reach of lobbyists" inquiry? As I noted before, lobbyists' influence wasn't even a topic of the video the OP referenced; the video was about the behavior of holders of public office.

Red:
Would you have an elected member of Congress not avail him-/herself of extant opportunities and his/her own capacity to publicize the ideas and initiatives the member thinks abet the well being of the country?

Doing such things seems to me among the things our elected representatives are supposed to do, do well and do to the best of their ability. That's what AOC's doing, and though you may disagree with her assessment of the merits of her ideology, she's doing her job.
