Many theories and facts have been publicized in the media after/before the election. All facts & theories have brought up black voters, gays, gay marriage supporters, religion, etc. All these factoring in to President Obama's victory.

One more big factor I would like to throw out there, short and sweet is, the 90s kids and the generations following the 90s kids. I scroll through my facebook feed and 90%+ vote for Obama for very selfish reasons regarding his support towards things like gay marriage, and the Hispanic community. I just think this is something that should have been factored in. Polls about 96% of African American votes, etc. 96% of young adult votes makes a big difference too.

I believe future elections are not going to come down to political parties or political biased. Just share the interests of the right groups like Obama has. Obama had a perfect campaign for our time period. I won't share who I voted for, but I can tell you I knew as soon as Obama was elected the first time that he would serve both terms. I took polls on the smallest scales, but with the right groups. The reasons behind their votes were always something on a very small scale that they supported.

So to future candidates. Be educated and support the vast majority of what the time period supports.
 
i don't think equal rights for gay people is a selfish issue.
but then again i'm not a bigot who discriminates based on silly stuff like who you want to put your willy in within the context of a consensual relationship between two adults, so i can't speak for everyone:
 
"I want my ____ to be able to marry _____" It becomes very selfish. I have heard this time and time again. Gays will vote for whoever supports gays. Check poll results for gays that vote for a candidate that isn't pro- gay marriage. It's not a poll worth compiling.

'i want equal rights, to be able to marry who i choose, without ideologues telling me their religion precludes me from a consensual relationship that has nothing to do with their talking snake' is what you meant to say, right?
 

You know, there is already somebody else on this forum pretending to be an independent and using the oh-so-inconspicuous title of "Independent" as part of his user name. Try a new shtick?

When you vote for someone just because he/she supports one issue that caters to your group. It's selfish.
 
"Well, he has plans to dig us into the ground , but he's pro-abortion!" Yes, it's a big issue. I am not denying that it's something taken into account everything should be, but everything isn't. With young voters especially our reasons are always based on that one issue that we support/disagree with. I am just saying, anyone that pats most the people on the back with that one issue has a good shot.
 
...Plenty of Midwestern voters went Romney because of one issue...That's politics. We elect officials who share our values. The republicans are outdated.
 
Politics isn't one issue. I really wish people had a better definition for it. Politics has the capacity to completely change what we wake up to everyday. What you wake up to can be changed by a economic collapse. Living across from a gay married couple isn't going to prevent you from feeding your kids. This is just an example of how I feel when I hear my friends say they are voting for X candidate because he wants gays to be married. That's fantastic and many don't have a problem with that. I do have a problem with families struggling to provide.

People will tell you there biggest reason or the one that swayed them. It does not mean that is the only reason.

It is convenient and soothing for losers to blame the electorate for their loss. You failed to appeal in the market place of ideas, deal with it. I doubt your candidate had to fight to get on any ballots or was denied an opportunity to share his views on the debate stage.

Why? If you vote for a single issue, it's because you believe that issue is important enough to affect the whole country.
 

Yeah, I am sure that's what people in your survey said. "I know he plans to run the economy into the ground, but I like his views on abortion" You ain't fooling anybody, hack.
 

My vote contributed to the victor. Having a problem with the idea of voting based off one reason that doesn't effect the USA daily, does not make me a X party supporter or a Y candidate supporter. Jumping to conclusions based off one thing I said, further proving my point.

Whether or not the couple across from me is legal or not legal is going to affect the whole country enough to be worth a vote? I really think there is more to look into then that.

so by that logic the civil rights movement was also not a worthy cause? the plight of poor black people sure doesnt affect me one bit, does that mean they should still have limited freedoms? it's the same thing with gays. discrimination based on anything that isnt tangible is ridiculous, i'd argue that far from being selfish on the part of the people who vote to support law/candidates who support ending such discrimination, it's actually selfless to support someone else that matters not to you in a real sense.

the real selfish ones are the people forcing us to vote one way or the other because they don't like the idea of gay people, blacks, etc having rights. why force good, decent people into a corner like that, when otherwise they might well support your other positions?
 
African Americans and gays have rights. It's the modern times I suggested a theory that anyone can take office "if they pat me on the back". This isn't me taking shots at gays and African Americans. It's me sharing a theory that if you support the right groups you can be our president. Your economic plans, war plans, etc. they are great, but I really like my kool-aid and X candidate likes kool-aid. I'm voting X.

I don't recall any racism or sexism in the 2012 campaigns.
 

Ts a stupid theory. homosexuals make up between 3 and 10 percent of the electorate. They did not decide the election. Voters are fed up with the GOPs pandering to homophobes and support of anti homosexual policy.

Can you give us an example of Mitt or Republicans doing this? Maybe the guarantee of tax cuts?

I think you are wrong. The GOP was rejected on a broad basis. It was not one issue but many where they alienate and scapegoat.
